1. Some of that is just name recognition, no?
I'd be interested in a similar poll, say, a month from now. I'd guess Biden would have an even larger margin then. At least for me, the best I ever liked Gidget was the first two minutes I saw of her last week. It's been downhill ever since.

2. True.
I predict her numbers will plummet across the board in the coming weeks.

Still, the margin for Biden is remarkable given how close the head-to-head is between Obama and McCain. We would expect die-hard Repukes to be in the tank for Palin and Democrats to rightly say she sucks. Independents must not be impressed either.

3. The VP debate will be important. Biden will likely blow her away.
I suspect she will get caught in a gaffe or two and the media will pounce.

6. BUT if he even looks like he's bullying the poor little
Mrs Moose, people will say SHE was mistreated and feel sorry for her..

This is why McCain chose her....she's the sympathy card..poor dear..she has a handicapped newborn haven't ya heard? and she has FIVE kids..and her boy is headed for WAR...

and that mean man is picking on her:(

4. Bizarre poll results to other questions. Only 45% think Palin qualified to be prez if necessary,
but 57% think choosing her as his VP reflects favorably on McCain. So 12% of those surveyed thought the choice reflected favorably on McCain even though she isn't qualified to be POTUS if necessary.

???????????????????

The poll showed 22% of those surveyed saying they're more likely to vote for McCain with Palin on the ticket, and 20% are less likely. I wish they'd broken that data down by party affiliation, because if the 20% who are less likely to vote for McCain because of Palin are Dems who wouldn't vote for him anyway, and she's made 22% of Republicans more likely to vote, she is helping him. Though maybe not as much as other possible VPs would have. Hard to say at this point. The news stories I've seen indicate a lot of conservatives like the choice.
