Even if McCain, with few brain cells, was determined to pick her, there are too many that would stop him from doing so. This is some sort of crazy set-up. Either she is going to back out at some convenient point for them or everyone connected with his campaign is on the same trip! I don't think I am buying the last one. it is quite a clever choice. Assuming she is able to survive the campaign - a rather big if - this strengthens his chances. And even if they go down in defeat-they can always claim this was a "maverick" choice and a change.

I'm actually starting to wonder if there's anything to the idea that it's setting up a credible rationalization for election theft - in that, despite whatever early polling may show, a sudden swing for McCain on election day would be justified as "The Woman Vote" going for Palin.

Apparantly many people here simply assumed that the Evangelicals were on board with McSame. This was not the case until today. What Palin does is electrify the value voters. McSame needs their money, votes, and organizing skill if he is to have any shot.

he really wanted Holy Joe to be his running mate. The lobbyists/advisors/handlers who are pulling the strings said no and THEY chose her.
