1. Buchanan says he's astounded.
"Explosive"

"The president is going to want to put it past November. But someone is trying to abort the investigation."

5. Real reporter in 2004?
Even Bob Woodward has become a Bush ass kisser. If you are waiting for real reporting in 2004, give up now! :)

7. Well...
This is an interesting twist. If this is in fact the case, this story coming out now isn't really the good news we think it is?

Do you think he could be correct or was that comment just a reflection of his biases?

11. Larry Johnson said he had been hearing about this for months.
Sometimes Buchanan does not know what he is talking about. Okay, a lot of the time.

12. Time for Congress to act.
We're seeing evidence of treason at very high levels.

Congress MUST step in immediately and decisively to see this thoroughly investigated and dealt with.

13. You mean like they outed that "terrorist" spy, and the CIA operative?
I mean the one that was outed to explain the last "terroist" alert, and screwed up the British?

14. Buchanan is one of the savviest Washington insiders
He was born in D.C. and is part of the Olde Washingtonne establishment. He's smart, and has a nose for news. He may have some ideological quirks, but if he's astonished by this then, By Gum, we'd better pay attention.

19. I agree with grasswire. . .
. . .put me in the category of those who hate him for his bigotry based conservatism, however I have the utmost respect for him. Strange, wierd, I know. . .I think my respect comes from both his consistency and his wisdom. He is still a bigot, but I respect him. . .oy I need an aspirin.

20. did you know he joined the Kerry smear?
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 09:19 PM by Cocoa
he's pushing yet another lie, taken out of O'Neill's book.

How does that fit into your generous portrait of Pat? Is it conservative, or wise, to smear a war hero, or anyone, with stories one knows are lies?

Forgive me, but one of the most infuriating things about DU is people defending Pat Buchanan.

22. Look.
To say that Pat may have more insight into this new scandal that WE do is not to say that everything that Pat says is gospel.

Gee.

Try not to be so rigid in judging a person. That's what the freepers did to the Clintons. "He's bad, so he's stupid, too."

Buchanan is smart and savvy and no one's fool.

23. I think you need to reread my post. . .
. . .Pat Buchanan is conservative bigot, but I have grown to respect him because his is consistent (unlike Bush) and he does have a certain wisdom. I am not praising him, I am just giving my objective impressions. He is an evil, evil man, but that does not mean he does not have a deep knowledge of the way Washington works.

15. Feith is a neocon
Stands to reason his aides are, too.
Buchanan hates neocons and they hate him.

This was leaked to more than one media outlet. It was practically a blast leak. Could be an attempt to get it out on Friday, could be an attempt to compromise the investigation (although it sounds like they have most of it wrapped up). Most likely this is someone settling a score with Rumsfeld in a big way.

17. Feith and Richard Perle, advisers to Likud
In 1996, Perle and Feith co-authored an advisory paper for the newly elected Likud Prime Minister Netanyahu, which called for ‘a clean break from the peace process’, by Israel. They advised Netanyahu to reassert Israel’s claim to its land by rejecting ‘land for peace’ as the basis of peace, strengthen Israel’s defenses to better confront Syria and Iraq, and forge a new and stronger relationship with the United States.
