Fight over Keyes on Illinois ballot?
It's a conservative blog:

http://www.illinoisleader.com/news/newsview.asp?c=19054

5:00 IllinoisLeader.com has just learned that proposed Republican U.S. Senate nominee Alan Keyes' spot on the November 2 ballot is in jeopardy. The Illinois State Board of Elections is currently in an overtime meeting in Chicago to deliberate the decision.

5:45 PM There is a fight at the State Board of Elections that has lasted three hours so far to certify the November 2 ballot. There is a straight party line split over certifying the ballot. It’s locked 4-4. All votes have been 4-4. The vote to certify with Alan Keyes has been 4-4. The vote to certify without Alan Keyes has been 4-4. Five votes are needed.

1. update
6:20 PM: From Proft: Republican Brian Schneider motioned to recess until 7:00 PM. Failed 4-4.

Democrats motioned to adjourn until September 3. Failed 4-4.

They’re now basically sitting in a room starting at each other because they don’t know how to make the meeting end.

5. It's not about Keyes.
It's local politics.

4. I Hope They Leave the Asshole on the Ballot.
He will drag down the entire Republican Party in Illinois all by himself.

6. Wonkette is reporting it now. . .LOL
This is just getting funnier and funnier!

BREAKING: Keyes Not Really Resident of State, Not Really Candidate

Can't be sure about this, but we hear that Democrats on the Illinois state election board have successfully shot down Marylander Alan Keyes' bid to represent their state in the Senate. It's funny how sometimes "conservative" means upholding established principles. We're gonna miss his loving singing voice, though.

7. This could be payback for them forcing Bush on to the ballot. . .
. . .for those of you who don't know, they had to make a special rule for Bush to be on the ballot.
