Everyone Knows Being A Prisoner Of War Is The Essential Qualification For The Presidency....
George Washington was a P.O.W.; Abraham Lincoln was a P.O.W.; Franklin Roosevelt was a P.O.W.; Bill Clinton was a P.O.W.: every great President of our country has been a P.O.W., from the very founding of our nation....

McCain and his surrogates have made a contemptible mockery of what service the man did perform for our country, and need to have it fed back in their teeth.

3. Well Sir, I'm waiting for DU to provide us with a daily widget that enumerates each POW reference
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 02:36 PM by cryingshame
McCain or his campaign makes.

It might involve tweaking the fundraising widget thingy. I don't know.

But since his being a POW is so damned important, I say we track it intensely with great zeal.

5. how to put this one to bed

If being a prisoner of war is a qualification for being president, then clearly every republican president since the modern era of the Republican party has been unqualified to serve as president, to include Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George Bush Jr. And moreover, pretty much every president who has ever served in office has been unqualified, and that goes for vice-presidents as well.

9. I think Rachel Maddow said it best...
Paraphrasing, she said that the only way this experience could possibly have become weakened is for John McCain to overuse and misuse it.

I think General Clark said it pretty well, too...

And so did you of course, Sir.

I say we should all stand in solidarity with the senator from Arizona, and declare ourselves POWs.

We have all been prisoners of W these past eight years.

13. Hey! Five and a half years as a POW means he knows how to win wars!!
I can't believe no one in media jumps him about that.

Really, Senator? Exactly WHICH war in the past 50 years did you know how to win, and why didn't you share that secret plan with everyone? Are you waiting until you're president, like Nixon, to tell us your secret war winning plan?

This guy is more dangerous than Bush. McCain really does think he knows how to win wars, and it's a safe bet he'll make wars to try to prove that dubious claim.

16. The sad truth is McCain literally screwed up everything he touched in the Navy.
He was terrible from the minute he went to Naval Academy until he got out.

15. I wish the Democrats
would stop mentioning it every time they prepare to criticize any of his policies. I think all the "honorable man" stuff prefacing any attack blunts the criticism.

Let McCain wear out the POW card. We don't have to legitmize it with endless praise.

19. And he demeans others who served and suffered
in Vietnam. He has turned a devastating and painful experience into a pathetic political cliche. Can you imagine how other former POW's must feel every time he uses that line?
