Hillary needs to
Become senate majority leader.

I think that would be a good glass ceiling for her to shatter.

1. Completely Agree

That is, if she isn't interested in being AG or SoS. Personally, I'd rather see her stay in the Senate than take a Cabinet appointment (since, at this point, I think she is pretty much unbeatable in the Senate). However, I would LOVE to see President Obama elevate her to the Supreme Court. I am pretty sure that would draw a Rethuglican filibuster, though.

As Senate Majority Leader, she would be so, so, so much more effective than Harry Reid. Not even close.

3. I don't think Hillary would want to be on the Supreme Court
She's a people person and I think she really digs politics. She likes being a mover and a shaker so the Senate Majority Leader seems like a good fit. But as well as being more suited for the Senate, I think she'd be most effective there as well. If she did want it, I'm with you on the SoS position.

7. She *Is* a People Person

. . . but what better pulpit from which to undo the workings of the vast right-wing conspiracy? And she'd be doing it for the people. :-)

9. I just don't think it fits her temperament

I mean that she is a people person in that she likes to the give and take interaction with people. Although I do believe that she also likes to be the person to "fix" things and make things better for people, I don't see her doing it in the more cerebral style of a Supreme Court judge.

5. Hmm I don't think supreme court suits her
I do think harry needs to go though. He is my senator sadly and I am this close to working to defeat him if he tries to run again. I don't think he will though and so we will need a new one soon.

We need to keep all the senators in place that we have IMHO. We lose obama and joe by default, and we lost Harriette, Ted is a lion but I am not sure how long he will continue on. I am afraid to lose any more senators.

It would be awesome to see her push the health care agenda with the gavel in her hand.

4. Hillary needs to become the next Teddy Kennedy type senator.
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 03:57 AM by dkf
Looking back at Teddy's career, he did more than any President could do.

The Majority Leader has to herd cats. That doesn't sound fun at all. And breaking a glass ceiling is nice, but getting things done is more important.

6. i'm not sure she would want that
the Senate Leader is about all these little rules , procedures etc.

i think she would rather focus on issues rather than try to do the math about how many senators she has, needs to contact etc.

also, look at Nancy Pelosi who is far more liberal than she may seem but she has to hold back or be careful with some things because of the moderate or conservative leaning Dems who she represents also.

i think a cabinet position is better or just trying to be influential like Ted Kennedy . remember, Ted Kennedy didn't really have leadership positions in the SEnate.

8. Majority Leader is up to the senate, but someone needs to replace Reid
I can imagine that Hillary would have a lot more willingness to call the GOP's bluff than Timid Harry has had.
