" Lincoln gives short shrift to Gettysburg valor".
Based on Scarborough and his fellow RW shills' dissection of Hillary's triumphant speech last night, that is how this repulsively dishonest bully would describe the Great Emancipator's finest speech. I'm certain that he would go on and on and on about the brevity of the text and the insult to the fallen by writing it on the back of an envelope.
I'm certain that if Joe had been asked to analyze the Sermon on the Mount, he would have raised serious questions about Jesus' sincerity and would have characterized it as unvarnished class warfare given only to pump up the "Messiah's " popularity. If Joe had left his confederate flag in his pick-up truck to witness Dr. King on the Mall, he would have described the speech as a yawner.
Now I don't classify Hillary's remarkable speech with these 3 examples, but there is not a doubt in my mind that if commentators then took the same beady-eyed, pinch-backed partisan approach that GOP Joe does, the mindless denigrations would be similar.
My comments also apply to the deeply disturbed MoDo.

1. Good examples
Repubs would crucify Jesus all over again if he delivered the Sermon on the Mount today

5.  I am certain there would have been some fundy minister
claiming that Jesus was not a Christian and an enemy of family values.

2. "beady-eyed, pinch-backed partisan approach ..."
Great adjectives that I'll add to my arsenal of Repub descriptions! Thanks chieftain!

'Could you have a beer with him?! Really? And his wife...she clearly hates America!'

4. It's been a while
but my recollection is that Mr. Lincoln's speech wasn't all that well received at the time. Cranks with their own agenda is nothing new.
