| Matthews is reaffirming my respect for him as a journalist. |
|
I know Chris Matthews isn't always popular around here, but I've been a fan of his for quite a while. I don't always agree with his opinions, but he's a guy who speaks from the gut and doesn't allow himself to be pushed around. And the way he's handled all of these punk pundits who are trying to sow "disunity" is beautiful. He's not just running with it, he's talking about it logically and shooting down the BS. Even if he doesn't always share my opinions, I just can't help but respect the guy.
He and Keith (and Rachel, who just totally OWNED Pat Buchanan)are being just exceptional enough to spend some of my convention-viewing time on MSNBC, along with CSPAN.

for Bush. I thought he'd faint from the vapors when Bush did his "Mission Accomplished" strut in his flight suit.

Journalists are supposed to report facts, dig for them, and then arrange them in a coherent way in print or on electronic media. Matthews is a talking head. He is paid to give opinions and direct the discourse on his show.
That said, I've been enjoying him lately.

I'm back to avoiding him now. People might loathe him here, but when he was out for two weeks, there were posts asking 'Where's Tweety?' He kind of grows on you.

heart is in the right place. He goes off on some wild thinking sometimes but he is not vicious like Scarborough or crazy like Buchanan. Matthews is just what you see and he really means nobody any harm. I bitch about him and will again but all in all just like you say.

I think he's starting to realize the error of his ways and finding himself agreeing more and more with keith and rachel and getting sick and tired of the same old corporate lies.
personally, I kinda feel bad for him but if he gets mocked, he's earned it. he's got a bit of the ways to go if he wants to sing with the angels after wallowing with the scum of the earth.

call Obama a muslim yesterday. I even got a little pissed with KO for cutting him off occasionally last night. CSPAN is the best thorough coverage though, no pundits.

"so what if he is?" a child rapist or a Muslim? Either way, the tone of your first few posts is suspect. The implication of your post is that being a Muslim is tantamount to being a child rapist. Is that what you are saying?

Mathews is about Mathews.
He might be freewheeling for three days running for the convention, but he spent the bulk of this decade COMPLETELY complicit with the republican agenda through the media by marginalizing and mocking all that is democrat.
He has A LOT of ground to make up with me to keep me from working against him in the primary (not that it will make a difference, but I am not so quick to forget his complicity).
