7. cnn was a real person & she just put up with it
at first you get a recording telling you that they will not respond to what you say except to acknowledge your statement. msnbc was a recording i didn't call faux 'cause i hate them & couldn't force myself to call.

6. Some people want to be aware of what the coverage is like
Like it or not, but this is what we will have to deal with when we talk to people about politics.

15. Agreed. Can't fix a problem if you don't know it exists.
The take-home message so far is that the media is over-hyping the Obama-Clinton rift, so no doubt the Clinton supporters will be swinging Obama's way as the general election proceeds.

11. Coverage sucks. I can tell you without watching....
Watching pays their salaries so they can continue to suck at the risk of our democracy.

Have fun with that.

18. Switching between CSPAN and MSNBC
The music is cool, but I'd rather hear Olbermann and Maddow in between the speeches. :patriot:

I think better would be "we is FrenchieCat". You don't have a mandate to speak for all DUers, as several responses on this thread show.

21. Positive or Negative. Don't let them play you.
Play it straight and ignore the main stream, republican controlled media. Praising them when you agree and damning them when you don't paints you as unreliable. The mainstream media is playing us for all its worth. Stirring up discontent and then putting it on the air to stir up more. Stop letting them use you.

23. Over at MSNBC, Chuck Todd writes this:
"Beginning Tuesday night and extending at least midway through Wednesday, you’ll have to forgive those of us in the media if you hear us humming the song “You’re So Vain.” The Clintons will probably think this convention’s about them."

Ugh. Maybe it's the media that's making the convention about the Clintons? After all, Hillary is only one but many speakers tonight. Bill is only one but many speakers tomorrow, and he's not speaking in primetime. The media's coverage has been horrible. I've mainly been watching CNN but I'm not sure why I bother since all I see is their stupid talking heads instead of the people speaking on stage. For example, when the female Senators were each taking their turn to speak at the podium earlier this evening, CNN only showed a couple of them. So Chuck Todd, would that be the Clintons' fault? Are they preventing CNN and other networks from actually covering other speakers? The networks are too interested in focusing on their talking heads and their talking heads are too interested in pushing the Democratic division meme.

33. No coverage will ever be 100% positive. To expect ONLY glowing
coverage is unrealistic and childish. That would be unfair and unbalanced.

We should also hear what parts don't go over well, so we can refine how the message is presented. We also need to know how the media is spinning the message so we can prepare counter-messages.

But I disagree with you here. It's important that we know what's going on. To ignore the negative is to bury our heads in the sand. I'd prefer to know what they're saying so that I can refute the lies.

I understand where you're coming from, but it isn't for you to decide what can and can't be posted on DU. Ignore the threads if you don't want to know what they're saying on CNN/MSNBC/Fox.

Edit to add: You've also got the greatest avatar EVAR!
