12. Doosh--Walt apparently substantiated
that there is a picture of Bush in his uniform back in the day where he's sporting some medals (ribbons, whatever) that he didn't earn.

There's a 275+ thread around here somewhere that he started yesterday on the topic.

That's all I know.

Hope he checks in soon with grasswire.

24. Looking at the eyebrows of the chimp, do you think he plucked or
waxed? Or do eyebrows fall out naturally in some species?
But then again, if he is a reptile, they don't have eyebrows, so the eyebrows in this photo are artifical.

Just posting the questions to keep the thread kicked!

I think that as good as Walt's work has been, that it can only be buttressed and aided by these same people being exposed to the work of Paul Lukasiak.

FWIW: A former National Guard Adjutant General agrees with Lukasiak's conclusions, based upon the source materials on the AWOL site.

32. Walt---Great Work, but a Caveat
This story is a great way to hit back hard on this. Coming from someone who works on a campaign (candidate will remain nameless) and a student of politics, this is great work.

I do want to see the value of your effort maximized because this is an important issue and deserves to receive a lot of attention. If you do work today and tomorrow, what does that get us? Maybe you get an article in a Sunday paper that no one reads, and maybe the story goes away after that.

These are possibilities that should be considered.

What you have that the swifties do not is a photograph, and pictures speak louder than words. Using the picture, any competent press clown could discuss how * didn't earn these medals. If you could provide them with text from *'s Congressional race when he said that he was in the Air Force, you have a great bundle that has a rather convincing message. No hair splitting would be needed. This is something that has all appearances of fact, barring the possibility that the photo was originally Photoshopped. Having not read some of your posts on this topic, I won't go further with that line of thought because it looks like your research is thorough, and you will have undoubtedly looked into this.

So, the question remains when do we want this thing to run? Why don't we try and use it to keep the service issue in the news and drown out the RNC with talk of *'s lack of service and misrepresentation of this service? To accomplish this, I think your work would be most effective on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Get the tips planted and allow enough time for the media to do their background check. I assume they'd jump on the story, so it would be something they'd run with on Monday.

Anyway, just some thoughts. Good work and good luck...

54. Kick for Walt... You're smoking them out and bringing 'em to justice...
Fair point... Should we just go Trippi on this and run with it despite tough odds of it having a major impact headed into the weekend?

I think it would behoove us to save it for a Monday story because it could cast doubt over the convention and give the media a story to run with while * tries to claim that he's an honest leader.

Anyway, this is Walt's baby, and I like his work so much here that I don't want it to be wasted by the media. Hopefully he'll get some feedback from media specialists and sympathetic minds in the media before running with it.

I'd avoid going down the 527 route... If Walt could pitch himself as a private citizen, then that would be highly effective.

98. Shameless plug..
I started a thread on this topic earlier today. My goal is to compile a thorough list of Bush's service record embellishments. I'm willing to write them all out, complete with referrences, etc. and then hopefully we can start getting it out to the media and accross the internet.

If anyone has information to add, please help. I'm LexisNexis deprived, so could really use some help with the research.

surely the big vietnam era story re: chickenshit is the fact that he has lied about HIS service or lack thereof. The media "biggie" should do due diligence if he/she is a journalist and highlight *'s desertion and broken promise to make all his Nat'l Guard record's open and fully available!

66. It's the new thread about the ribbon
I found out from the Air Force History Support Office that George Bush's Guard unit was awarded the AFOUA for the time period of October 1, 1973 to September 30, 1975.

Bush was discharged October 1, 1973.

There is no way Bush could have legitimately worn the ribbon while in uniform because of the dates.

Ergo, he wore a ribbon he did not earn.

69. So...doesn't this show that Bush was eligible?
I mean, technically, wasn't there part of October 1, 1973 where he WAS part of the unit? Wouldn't that few hours mean he was part of the unit during that period?

I'm confused.

74. The picture with him wearing the ribbon was taken BEFORE...
the unit was awarded the ribbon if, as noted on the picture, bush was a 2nd lieutenant because he became a 1st lieutenant before the ribbon was awarded to the unit. From what Walt has written, the ribbon is not actually given out till the period of time covered is complete which would make that in 1975 not 73.

73. Yes. Cut it into baby bites for TVmedia.
And bundled and explained and...damn what work has to be done for lazy rich F*cks in cable media. If this IS cable. If press, it is simple enough for many.

But the most important thing to bundle in is CONTEXT and THEME.
Fraud. Liar.
A long history of FRAUD and DECEIPT.
this is just ONE more in a LONG line.

THAT is what I would like to see accomplished with this.
"Why is this important? Aren't people TIRED of smears and what happened 30 yrs ago?"

Walt is in my Hero file.
so is Paul Lukasiak, from way back in TTalk forum, 2000. Wow.
What a long sad trip...is that light at end of tunnel or a train?
I have to believe it is light.
(But prepared to jump.)

93. There's a lesson to be learned here.
It's all well and good to spread around every little tidbit and factoid of information that pops up on Bush in bits and pieces, but it would be much more effective if some actual projects got put in the works. Since the media apparently can't be bothered to investigate these things for themselves, someone needs to do it for them.

What would be great is if some people would pick some specific topic, say, questions about Bush's activities at Harken. Or why Bush's guard application doesn't disclose one of his college arrests (at least I haven't seen it, two different "prior arrests" disclosure sections only mention the Christmas wreath incident of 66, nothing about the football game disorderly conduct arrest anywhere I've seen, and I've been rummaging around in those records quite a bit). Or how and why *exactly* Bush's driver's license number got changed ("security reasons" my behind).

And then start digging. Relentlessly. Compile the absolute most solid, ironclad case of misconduct that can possibly be constructed from every available information source. Take a week. Take a month. The media won't do it anymore so someone has to. Don't just build the positive case either, anticipate any possible objection and cut it off before it gets off the ground.

Then when everything is all put together, tie a nice little bow around it, submit it to your fellow DUers, and everyone ship it off to every news contact out there so they can regurgitate it. It's what they're good at these days.

If a bunch of different posters were of a mind they could even gang up and form project committees.

Just a thought. I've had a project of my own in the works for a while now but it's more of a "history of Bush" thing covering most of his life's exploits... so it's limited in how in depth it can get on any single point and still be readable by a wide audience. (I'm already stretching things with all the info I'm including about his activities in 72.)

Nice job Walt.

-Grant

96. absolutely
I've often wished we had a research forum and the capability to password some threads where research was taking place.

We're developing this stovepipe process. Four years ago, we couldn't do this. The blogs weren't there; the alternative media didn't have the clout.

I'll throw heart and soul into moving solid info to the American people.
