Heard Saturday: Obama makes Bush look articulate & intelligent
I kid you not - a caller into a radio show on Saturday said that if you listen to Obama speak, he makes George W. Bush look intelligent and articulate. Said that was why Obama wouldn't debate McCain town-hall style because he was so out of his league...

The radio show was on WTIC AM 1080 and the host was the moderate Stan Simpson, who is also a columnist for the Hartford Courant.

But, how delusional and insulated must these people be to actually believe this crap? I mean, even if you didn't like Obama during the primaries, I'm sure almost everybody would agree he's an excellent speaker.

1. If they think prez shit-for-brains is more articulate and intelligent than Obama, the listener
must have some severe cognitive deficiencies....

2. but...but...but 'they' say it's because he is reading from a teleprompter
but cannot speak off the cuff and that he says 'um' too much. Noticed lately that he
doesn't do that like he used to. I guess everyone noticed the teleprompter's Saturday,
eh? :sarcasm:

9. If I recall
The caller mentioned that Obama sounded "like an idiot" at Saddleback because he answered the question on when life begins by saying it was above his pay grade, or something like that.

Now, I'm at atheist, but I'm pretty sure that Obama meant when he said it was above his pay grade that he meant it was for God to decide when life begins, because God is above him. Am I right there, or was the caller right?

10. That burns my butt to NO end, cause ...
BO smashed McCain.

McCain had homefield advantage and went OVERBOARD pandering to the crowd, feeding them their red meat, and in the process staking flags in countless EXTREME right positions. He was simplitic, superficial and did not even BEGIN to display the level of faith that the forum was geared toward.

Obama told a crowd very much predispositioned to view him with skepticism A LOT of things they did not want to hear. He spoke extemporaniously, and displayed a real, three dimensional understanding of christianity.

He was a REAL person, McCain was a pol feeding red meat.

And, of course, the SPINELESS D "pundits" just rolled over and called it for McCain.

8. When he speaks extemporaneously, he is cautious and thoughtful
and he speaks with a lot of pauses and fillers. Obama makes very few gaffes. You will NEVER hear him talking about putting food on the families, or about gynecologists practicing their love on their patients.

The glib, thoughtless speaker will often come of sounding better because he speaks without pauses - if you just follow the pattern of speaking, rather than the actual words said, you'd think Bush is the better speaker.

It does prove out one thing - they don't really LISTEN to what their politicians say. It's all just a pleasing jumble of syllables, spoken with confidence, meaning nothing.

NOT speaking extemporaneously, but from a practiced speech, I've heard few better speakers than Obama.
