In a bar in IL small town last night I heard some old white guys who were for Obama
they thought Hillary would be a good pick, but really liked the idea of Joe Biden as VP.

One thing was for sure, they couldn't stand McCain. They were talking about his not knowing about how many houses he had or what kind of car he drives. I was glad that I wasn't the only one there who pays attention to the news.

"Fly over country" is OBAMA country!!!

1. Who the HELL doesn't know what kind of car they drive?!
That's worse than not knowing how many houses you have!

14. It shows how many things he doesn't do for himself
It means he doesn't take his own car in for inspection or repairs.

It means he doesn't check himself into hotels.

It means he doesn't handle his own registration filings.

His staff does everything for him -- including all the trivial little things that most of us do without thinking about it. The things that keep us grounded in the everyday reality of what life in 21st century America is like.

What sort of reality can McCain know when everything is done for him?

20. Not being a car person, I'm not always certain. I think it's a Buick.
Nope, my kid tells me it's an Oldsmobile. I can pick it out in a parking lot though, because it has a DU sticker!

Did I mention my husband bought it for me used for $500?

2. Hopefully, McCain has been exposed for what he is.
BTW - that photo of Bush disrespecting the salute is another perfect illustration of his true attitude toward the military, IMHO.

10. Mt. Vernon, IL
we all have southern accents down here.

I'm gay and my gf and I attend the little baptist church on the corner down the street with her mom & dad.
most everyone at that church is democrat so we don't get angry stares, etc. :)

13. That's where I was born!
I'm originally from So. IL, but now live near Indy.

I was born at the good ole Good Samaritan Hospital. My Dad used to teach at Mt. Vernon High School. We drive through every now and then to check out the places we know. I miss to old A & W drive-in. Glad to meet someone from that area! :hi: And also glad to know there are some pockets of blue in an otherwise veritable sea of red down there! :bounce:

17. We moved to West Salem, now "the home of the earthquake" in '79
Mom & Dad still live there. No damage. A few cows fell over, but that's about it. ;)

4. I know a few hardcore conservatices who've always liked Biden - it goes to show...
how important image and style is. Biden comes off as a straigh-talker and a tough guy.

5. From another small town---

I think housegate will go down in history as the momentum-shifter.
Call it class envy or whatever you want -- McCain blew it.

11. When foreclosures are at a record HIGH, yeah, McCombover blew it bad.
People are losing houses right and left in this country and literally, there are people who will tell you they owned a house when they left it this morning but they are not sure they still will when they get home. Not knowing how many houses you own is a HUGE disconnect.

Hiding behind trust funds and inheritances does NOTHING to minimize it either. For most of us, a "trust fund" consists of small change in the sugar bowl and you are trusting you kid not to raid it for ice cream.

18. IF the MSM let's it play ...
We KNOW they won't Pastorgate him for it.

Will they let BO and the Ds use the frame?

I think they bury it, and with the conventions at hand to give them two weeks, I think it gets buried DEEP.

6. I haven't heard about his car memory-hole...
Does McWrinkly even know how to DRIVE? Or put gas in the TANK?
Compare this to recent footage of Biden in his pick-up TRUCK making a run to the friggin' DUMP!
Anyone have a link to McCombover not knowing what kind of vehicles he has or how many?
If you overheard old white guys drinking and talking about the "House" issue, then this may indeed have huge legs!
And the Car issue?
Joe Six-Pack certainly knows if he has a Chev or Ford F-150, and wouldn't comprehend anyone being so out of touch or fucking clueless!

7. That house thing was just what we needed.
Sad to say, a lot of people in this country just go on the simplest of messages, and that is one they can understand.

15. You got that right
I remember every car I've owned since I was 16 (1967).
The first was a sweet blue 1950 Pontiac with a straight 8, fender skirts and a visor...cost me $50 bucks and a pair of water skis!
And...I remember how much gas has cost a gallon every year since then. You remember these things when you had to scrounge under the seat and sofa cushions for gas money!
