Obama played the media like a fiddle!
Admit it. The right-wing media moguls are wringing their hands right now. The media couldn't give us yet another day of the usual narrative. Instead, Obama ruined their plans.

Obama (along with Axelrod & Plouffe) spent a lot of time setting this up, getting people to sign up for text messages, making the rounds of the media circuits teasing everyone about who Obama might choose, tantalizing them with rumors of who's in and out, and getting the media worked up to a fever pitch.

So did we hear about McCain's VP pick? Nope, he got shouted down. We get to hear about Obama's pick.

Man, it gave me great satisfaction to watch Wolf Blitzer have to repeat Obama's name over and over and over instead of the usual barely-concealed McCain shilling. It looked like a tiny piece of his fundie soul died every time he said "Obama". Over, and over, pushing his name into people's minds, getting people to think about him instead of McCain, giving him a day of free press while leaving McCain out of the spotlight for a change.

Truly a beautiful thing! And just in time for the DNC to start!!!

2. He is controlling the message.
Waaah, are you pouting because your text message doesn't make you the first to know? Get real.

The whole point of this exercise was to tease the media into talking about Obama, not about McCain, not about Romney, and not about celebrity meltdowns, missing white girls or any of the other usual distractions.

The fact that the pick got leaked only a few hours before it was going out, by a tool who by leaking, showed why he wasn't picked, is barely relevant. Obama got a huge amount of buzz talking about him, talking about Biden, and getting his name out there.

That's how you play the game.
