Could they be having technical problems?
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 04:29 PM by nsd
I've been wondering what's taking the Obama campaign so long. I don't see any advantage to them in keeping the name secret until tomorrow. They're going to dominate Saturday's news with the Springfield event anyway. And waiting increases the odds that the name will leak first. (In fact, it may already have leaked, given how many people say Biden.)

Could it be that the technical difficulty of sending out 1 million+ text messages and e-mails simultaneously was greater than they anticipated?

10. Interesting ... when I saw Plouffe's name come up, I got excited ...
but I've also signed up for the text message and my
phone has been frustratingly quiet all day.

3. Is the Springfield Event Confirmed?

Just wondering. I just read a post elsewhere that indicated that it was not.

5. That an event in Springfield will take place has been confirmed.
I don't think they've said officially that the VP nominee will be there.

7. I think it will be memorably cool
Someday, we'll all be remembering where we were when we got that text. And it goes well with the contemporary yet grass roots feel of the campaign.

Like with any new thing, it requires some patience, but isn't the moment before, being on the qui vive really fun. I love it. I've been in that ecstatic jitters state all day....

Hope it's not Hillary....she was just too nasty....

8. They have the attention
Of every network in the country. Reporters are staked out at the airports, they all have their names in for the text, and it is dominating the news! I think it's great!!!

McCain has plans for a big birthday party and announce his choice, and republicans are trying to round up everyone they can to make it a "big event", but they won't come close to what Obama has done!

We just have to wait and enjoy the frustration by the media and the republicans. The republicans want to come out as soon as they can to "trash" whoever Obama picks. It's driving them crazy that they can't find out who it is, and they have to work overtime trying to get "dirt" on everybody they think stands a chance. I love it! :woohoo:

12. The first appearance of the ticket will be Saturday anyway.
That'll be tomorrow's big news. Why not dominate tonight's evening newscasts with the text announcement?

17. As long as people are signing up... they won't release it.
When the volume of people signing up to receive the message drops, the message will go out.

It really is that simple.
