So THIS is what T. Oliphant was alluding to on Scarborough
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 07:25 PM by lancdem
two nights ago. BTW, anyone else think this bold move today by the Kerry campaign is NOT the end? I can't wait to see what the next few days bring heading into the RNC!

5. Tom Oliphant is a Boston Globe columnist who knows Kerry well
He was on Scarborough's show Monday night and said something big was coming from the campaign. There's a DU thread on it in the archives.

2. The wonderful thing is...
That this whole thing was planned with a particular reaction in mind. Damned if they didn't get it as well.

Jerkoffs. Our government is run by craven jerkoffs.

3. Didn't he imply there was a series of things
about to come down?

This is too much fun, I'm not getting any work done!

6. He just hinted that a "deadline" had passed...
and sh*t was gonna hit the fan. I don't remember his wording. It was a "it's coming, wait and see" kinda hint.

13. this may be totally off the mark but didn't
Sy Hersh say that he was alotting the administration a certain amount of time to do the right thing? His book is coming out on 9/13.

It is my humble wish that the extremely dire circumstances which we so insensitively inflicted upon the (mostly) innocent Iraqi's will be exposed so we can better comprehend just why it is that we've spent 1.8 billion dollars on training Iraqi defense forces, 80% of whom, have now deserted the our ill conceived occupation forces, and now have become insurgents fighting against us. Not unlike Kerry in '71 (not presuming to be anywhere near his caliber), I don't wish for these revelations to hurt the troops in any way shape or form.

I want those who so unconsciously sent them into harms way, and who programed them with incendiary remarks such as. . . our opponents are all "evil doers", saying "you're either with us or you're against us ," and stating both Saddam Hussein and 9/11 in the same sentence repeatedly, to be held accountable for the fact that this stupidly simplistic rhetoric of *'s was primarily responsible for the atrocious violations of human rights that occured at Abu Graib. Kerry & Truman were and are right. The buck stops with the pResident. Make him face it.

They can no longer persist in persecuting the underlings and stop allowing those at the top to continue on with impunity. That is my humble wish. Silly me.

10. Here's the transcript
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5806898/

"SCARBOROUGH: Don‘t you think his response time has been a little slow over the past week or so? Do you think he should have jumped on this earlier, especially if he has seen it, as you have said, from one campaign to the next?

OLIPHANT: As a timing issue, Joe, I don‘t want to—I mean, you have more expertise in these things than I do. My observation, however, has been that when you want to watch a fight like this is when the counterattack starts.

Without making any predictions how it‘s going to go, what Kerry is doing now is classic Kerry behavior where his Vietnam experience is concerned. And there‘s going to be more of this tomorrow, a lot more, not just television advertising, by the way. And if I interpret what his people are saying, they want this debate to continue."

7. Those were my thoughts.
Especially seeing the RW talking point that the whole SBL circus is Kerry's fault. It fits with what TO implied.

8. Oliphant, btw, was with Kerry on the mall in 1971, reporting on VVAW
That was when Nixon tried to lock the vets (some in wheelchairs) out of the National Cemetary and kick them off the mall.

Oliphant saw it all go down.

Kerry is taking his plays from a book that Rove forgot about.

11. I know Kerry camp said that today, the lawyer dude was just the start
of a long list of SBLB (Swift Boat Liars for Bush) but I had an inclination that Kerry used his war record knowing that the BFEE would do a SBLB gig to smear him. However, Is there something even larger comming? Something Earth shattering with undenible proof?

I guess we ought to wait, rather that speculate. BTW - despite what the whores are saying, Kerry looked rather relaxed, and ready last night. Why else on this earth would he give them...BFEE a big cookie by saying yeah, Flip Flop flop flip?
