V.P. Debates: The Catholic v. The Mormon
If this scenario pans out, we will have a historic race on the V.P. side as well. When JFK was elected president, his religion was also a big issue at the time. People thought the Pope would be giving communion out of the White House or something.

Then you have Romney, the Mormon. A guy who belongs to that religion who if you call a 800 number sends you a free bible or something like a bible. I remember when I was a kid, I called and they sent me one. Can't remember if I actually did anything with it. But anyway, they supposedly have Magic Underpants or some supernatural ability.

I can see questions regarding their religious beliefs being a major issue to come up in debates. Of course, Biden being Catholic is considered more mainstream than Mormonism.

Biden would have to answer questions regarding his faith and how that comports with his views on abortion. (Typical question)

Romney would be asked whether he believes in polygamy and Magic Underpants. (Game Ender)

Should be interesting. :D

2. Biden's religious summary
http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0827/p01s07-uspo.html

""The animating principle of my faith, as taught to me by church and home, was that the cardinal sin was abuse of power," he said in an interview with the Monitor. "It was not only required as a good Catholic to abhor and avoid abuse of power, but to do something to end that abuse.""

3. Magic Underpants.
I have no problem with Magic Underpants.

None, whatsoever.

I'm wearing a pair right now.

4. I want to see how Huckabee reacts.
Before Iowa, Huckabee called Romney a dishonest politician who couldn't be trusted with the presidency. More recently his supporters have tried to warn McCain off Romney, organizing Anybody But Mitt efforts. A lot of it seems to be anti-Mormonism. Huckabee supporters tend to be the hardcore religious types. They think that Romney, as a Mormon, is not a Christian and that Mormonism is basically a 19th century version of Scientology.

5. This should be interesting.
Perhaps we will see Huckabee2012 movements soon on the religious right if Romney is indeed selected. Perhaps they can form a MUMA (Magic Underpants My Ass!) movement.

Should be interesting to say the least. :D

6. Translated the way many will view it:
The Papist v. The Guy-who-knocks-at-the-door-a-lot-until-the-dogs-send-him-packing.

Interesting it will surely be, but decisive, doubtful. Still waiting with bated breath for the VP debate, though.

9. Our dogs will bark at someone carrying a check up to the door.
It's a shame they can't be more discerning, but we're used to it.

10. The GOP would never allow a woman on the ticket.
Never.

But I don't know how accurate the Romney rumors are. Actually, McCain is pretty much out of luck. He has no good options. Anyone he chooses will be a loser.

You should hear us in Chicago about our "esteemed" Cardinal!
