How November could be a win/win situation
If we win in November, it will be a HUGE upset victory for the progressive movement and a crushing defeat for racism, the right wing talk radio smear machine, and the politics of hate in general. It will also be a victory against negative campaigning, as McCain has chosen to take the low road and it appears to be working with many voters. It would be a victory against every condescending anti-Obama Hatorade drinker, whether they be a member of the religious right or a PUMA turncoat. With a strongly Democratic House, strongly Democratic Senate, and a Democratic President, Democrats would have at least 2 years to aggressively undo the damage done by the Bush Administration and its far right accomplices. Even more importantly, The Supreme Court will have dodged a right wing theocratic bullet and will remain balanced.

However, if the right wing brainwashes enough easily-manipulated people, and/or steals the election if the brainwashing doesn't work, I consider that to be a green light to take the gloves off. That would be the cue to stop walking on eggshells and start stomping some damn toes! The Democrats have done a lot of compromising and "keeping their powder dry", most likely because they didn't want to lose in 2008. Meanwhile, the right wing says and does whatever the hell it wants and gets as dirty and underhanded as it feels like getting. If evil prevails in 2008, I would expect and hope for a much more vicious and aggressive progressive movement and Democratic Party. There would no longer be anything to lose and no reason to walk on eggshells. Most importantly, if there are over 40 Democrats in the Senate, there will be NO EXCUSE for any right wing justices to get on the Supreme Court. Of course, I don't want this second scenario to have to happen. America would have to be an idiocracy to vote for the right wing considering how the Bush Administration and its allies have wrecked the country for the last 8 years.

What I'm saying is: We win, we get all three branches of government and can aggressively bring the country away from the far right. We lose, we still get to take the gloves off because compromise and positive politics would have lost to the right wing machine and we would have no more incentive to NOT go for the throat.

1. If we win or if we win. That's where our thoughts must focus. Although I get what you;re saying.

2. If we don't win, we lose.....and we will stay lost.
The mediacracy will have totally taken over like in 1984.

3. There Is NO Upside to a Loss. Every Loss Makes the Democratic Party Weaker
If we can't win this year, when will we ever win?
Every loss makes the party weaker, and the weaker the part is,
the more they have to compromise and move further to the right.
