11. Then you obviously haven't gone back and read all the titles in the GD Presidential forum
and are not aware of this planned campaign today.

3. It's not in her DNA to be second-banana. She'll run again in '12 or '16.

Some people aren't cut out to play second fiddle.

7. She won the popular vote in the primary -- I think that's earning her place
Secondly, I think she'd rather be a Supreme Court justice, than VP.

10. I'd like to see her be a supreme court justice, fer sure.
That would drive the rw absolutely apopleptic...

And the popular vote was won by Obama. Honest......Look it up.

12. SHE DID NOT WIN THE POPULAR VOTE. THAT IS A LIE.
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 08:40 PM by Zhade
You can only say she did if you discount entire STATES.

HE won the popular vote, and every other metric. Stop lying about it. There's no shame in coming in a close second in the popular vote.

20. There is a difference between delegates and the popular vote
It's all a moot point now, anyway. No need for all caps.

21. That poster's on Ignore for me and I'm not taking it off but
I will join in the rebuttal and say that it's time for it to :wtf: wake the fuck up and smell the facts.

Obama won the popular vote and the primary and I really can't wait to see whom he has chosen to be his VP running mate.

24. I disagree that he won the popular vote...we could also extrapolate out what would have happened if
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 09:08 PM by StevieM
Florida had larger turnout, if the candidates had campaigned there. Or if the media hadn't carried his narrative of entitlement to the nomination based on a PD-count lead. In the end, just as the delegates were awarded the way they were awarded.....so too were the popular votes. And some states didn't award them. If you want to fault the system, then you also have to fault the notion of counting caucus votes at all, give that they are not elections that accurately reflect the sentiments of the people like primaries are.

As for Obama winning "every other metric"....just of the top of my head, she won the most congressional districts, a much better benchmark then states won, which Obama repeatedly highlighted. She also won under the GOP rules for awarding delegates, a system which doesn't include SDs. And I can't imagine any realistic set of rules that doesn't have SDs which would require/allow a system like the one we have for allotting PDs.

Finally, I can't even begin to imagine that if the roles were reversed that Obamites would not be mocking the notion that Hillary had won the popular vote, based on extrapolation estimates. Then again, if the votes of Clinton and Obama were reversed I can't imagine that he would not still have been picked as the nominee.

Then again...I count Michigan. So right there I consider her the winner. Obama chose to oppose a new election in that state, a choice which had electoral benefits for him, including increasing his popular vote total. It was all one big election. And that includes Michigan IMO.

I realize that you totally disagree with my opinion and what I just wrote....and that's fine.

Steve

25. You should check those figures again and see who won if MI is counted.
Even giving Obama every uncommitted vote, Hillary won by over 48,000 votes.

maybe she wants to do something else where she can find more satisfaction and do more good.
Being veep not only takes certain skills... it takes a whole mindset.

27. She doesn't want to be the filling of a presidential sandwich....
Obama, who whooped her, on one side, Bill on the other with all his crazy ways, and her right in the middle.

Naw, I don't think she wants it or, as you suggest, she'd be out there kicking some serious ass.
