Is Biden Racially insensitive?
I'm not calling him a racist, but this is something that is being discuss in the Afrosphere.

What would the repubs do with the remarks Biden made during the primary about blacks and about Barack being an African American?

Just curious how a more mainstream forum feel about that. Try googling Biden+Racism and see what comes up.

1. Not anymore than anyone else.
His comment about Obama being Clean and articulate were unfortunate but not a deal breaker.

That's my Opinion.

2. Seeing Biden spent his entire career in the Senate voting
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 10:09 PM by Jake3463
the correct way on civil rights so NO.

The man sticks his foot in his mouth every so often. He isn't racially insensitive but sometimes suffers from verbal diarria on alot of topics.

12. Diarrhea of the mouth
is a problem for him. Once again, I don't think he is a racist, but I do think he can be racially insensitive sometimes. I think he talks without thinking first.

Unlike some on here, I like Biden. He's a fighter, but his mouth scares me.

And I have no intention of googling Biden Racist. That's an odd thing for you to suggest unless you're hinting that he is.

5. I doubt he's racially insensitive. Biden probably wouldn't be a politically smart chioce for VP,
though. I would argue that any person in congress would be a bad choice (too many votes to go through). Plus, he isn't from one of the two major states that could turn the election for Obama.

9. They were words. His actions and votes have all been on the side of the Gods.
Had he supported any discriminatory legislation, or failed to support legislation that broadened civil rights, that would be a deal breaker.

But mere words, especially those that meant no harm, should not have any bearing.

19. I did not say he was
I am stating a fact that he has said some racially insensitive things during the primary. This is a concern that is being discussed in the Afrosphere.

I wanted to get a more mainstream viewpoint of this issue. That is the reason I posted this. Guess it should stay in the Afrosphere. Sorry for the discomfort.

Probably more of a classist. Although I do agree that race and class are often intertwined.

Biden, I think is more of a classist.

30. I think you should discuss it all you want
don't let other people's discomfort circumscribe your actions. There are a lot of homophobes here, but they don't stop people from talking about gay rights.

Go for it. I'm interested in what you have to say.

32. Welcome to the club
but don't let it get you down. I was just rereading MLK"s letter from a birmingham jail, and it has even more resonance today, if that's possible, than it did then.

Keep writing and people will keep reading and understanding. It's only when you stop writing that they win.

doesn't make sense that Biden would say that being president has anything to do with hygeiene. however, it does make sense that he would reference ethics.

He was saying that Obama is a clean politician, unlike the dirty politicians -- Bush, Cheney, Stephens etc. Biden is not a racially insensitive. It's just that sometimes his mouth engages before he thinks about how his words might sound.

I like Biden, and would be happy with this choice. He will kick McDrool's ass!
