2. I agree -- a strong female who doesn't _need_ the power or $$$
While you're at it, what about Maria Shriver? Doesn't she have executive experience once removed anyway?

5. Melinda Gates? Why on earth?
Marrying a rich robber-baron qualifies one for the vice-presidency?

Oh, wait, this is America. Sigh.... it probably does.

8. actually, Melina Gates is a very smart woman
She has an MBA from Duke and had a high level executive position at the rich robber-baron's company before she married him and convinced him to donate a shit load of money to an international foundation which she runs.

There's no way she could or will be Vice President, but it isn't like she's one of Donald Trump's wives.

10. "Smart" doesn't cut it, either...
Lots of people are smart - and you can find some of them in homeless shelters. Maybe the word you're really looking for is "rich," because we all know that in America, business leaders are natural political leaders, right?

Sorry to be so confrontational, but I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that Melinda (or Bill) Gates would be remotely qualified for elected public office as dog-catcher, much less as Vice President.

16. if you think I'm the one arguing for Melinda Gates as VP, you are mistaken
as I said, she could not and will not be Vice President. The suggestion that she will be Obama's running made is absurd.

However, the suggestion that she enter politics at a lower level, although I have never heard it from anyone other than the OP and see no reason to believe that she would be interested, is no sillier than the suggestion than anyone else run for office. Putting aside the fact that there are a whole host of Congresspeople and Senators that basically bought their way in (on both sides of the aisle), I don't see why her background would give her less qualifications than being a lawyer or a teacher or a solider or whatever. I have no idea what her political positions are -- she's not a politician, which is why the suggestion she be on the ticket is so absurd -- but she has accomplishments other than her marriage.

I think her odds are long but I think her integrity is great.
