5. It doesn't suit their purpose (get McCain elected) to

reveal the messy truth - that their guy is a lowlife sleaze who tossed aside "damaged goods" in favor of a rich young hottie. And, if someone dares mention it, the subject is quickly changed or, as was the case with Hannity the other night, McCain's behavior is summarily excused because of his POW stint.
