How influential is the Catholic News Agency (CNA)? They're attacking Obama.
I'm unfamiliar with this news source, but a story turned up there when I was checking Google News for stories about Obama tonight. I have no idea how large CNA's audience is.

The story is about the Illinois BAIPA (Born-Alive Infants Protection Act) and they're siding with the NRLC's attack on Obama:

Evidence shows Obama misrepresents his opposition to Born-Alive Infants Protection Act

It's easy to discredit this kind of story coming from Corsi, with his background.

How credible and influential is CNA among US Catholics? Anyone here know?

6. The local "christian" radio station bashes Obama all the time.
The basis of it is the "right to life" ploy.

9. Just discovered some CNA stories are carried on EWTN's site.
Not good. I had heard of EWTN (though I never watch it). I have no idea how many readers they have on their site, though. Do they have news programs?

This is the EWTN site's main news page

http://www.ewtn.com/news/index.asp

and their main news story tonight is another CNA story:

Archbishop Hopes Obama Realizes Sebelius a Bad Catholic Advisor

http://www.ewtn.com/vnews/getstory.asp?number=90454

Both stories on EWTN's main news page tonight are CNA stories. I don't know if the BAIPA story will be there tomorrow.

12. Why are you here? Do we need to know everything the right Wing nuts talk about?
Corsi called Hillary Clinton a FAT HOG. Should I start a thread dedicated to that? Cause it seems that according to you, every word they utter ends up posted here.

There's more info at the link in the OP, though I'm not sure how accurate it is. My OP was asking how large a Catholic audience this story might reach. I hadn't heard of CNA, but I had heard of EWTN, the Catholic TV network, and that carries CNA stories on their website. I was just checking the Wikipedia article on EWTN, trying to find out how large their audience is, and EWTN is available in tens of millions of US homes. They also have news programs, but I don't know whether those report the same CNA news stories they pick up on their site.

I was wondering about how many readers the CNA stories might get on EWTN's site, and found this Quantcast page:

http://www.quantcast.com/ewtn.com

Estimated traffic is about 500,000 people a month. So if CNA stories are usually carried by EWTN, they are reaching a fairly large Catholic audience.

Just checked Quantcast's page on the Catholic News Agency site, which was linked to the other. That gets only about 70,000 visitors a month, but EWTN and any other Catholic media carrying CNA stories get them to a much wider audience.

Just noticed that Quantcast shows that the sites people visiting CNA are most likely to visit are conservative sites. So hopefully any Catholics not sure whether to vote for Obama who run across CNA stories attacking him will dismiss them as typical RW attacks.

18. They have a story claiming taking birth control might make you fall out of love with your husband
This is only my personal opinion as a Catholic. Before I saw the CNA on DU I had never heard of it. No one in my family has ever heard of it, nor friends. My own observation is that the CNA is a very very strict interpretation of the faith. They constantly rewrite stories around an anti-choice agenda. My guess is that anyone that reads the CNA and takes advice from them is already firmly in McCain's camp. I have never seen the CNA support a Democrat.

23. Thanks, SemiCharmedQuark! I'd googled the agency name and DU and discovered it had
been mentioned on DU before, but I had no idea how many people they reached or how credible they were considered. I was Catholic until my late teens, but that was a long time ago, and I'd never heard of them. (But then I don't discuss Catholic news with those relatives who are still Catholic; many aren't.)

If CNA is known for a conservative bias then the attack on Obama should be dismissed by Catholic moderates and liberals familiar with it.

24. On their site, they have a long discussion about when a woman may get her uterus removed
I do not know anyone that is that conservative. I'm sure there are some, but as I said before, I think they would already be in McCain's camp.
