Mr. Bayh’s record points up the risks and rewards for Mr. Obama of adding a running mate from a Republican-leaning state, someone whose votes and credentials could compensate for perceived weaknesses of Mr. Obama but potentially alienate progressive Democrats crucial to Mr. Obama’s success.

I'm just not sure I agree with those who keep referring to him as an "empty suit".

His bio appears awfully expansive to call it "empty"..

2. Eeech. Bayh is one of the lamest Dems in the Senate. I dunno, if he's obviously trying
to patch a weakness, I think it might end up just calling more attention to that weakness. If the conversation is "experience," Obama loses--and an "experience" VP only furthers that conversation.
