I've been hearing grumbling about Obama's new ad "Embrace"
But it's effective and here is why. If Obama didn't respond and McCain kept doing that celeb shit then the lack of response would make it seem like Obama acknowledges he is a celebrity only and isn't trying to fight that description. By taking the meme that McCain is trying to make of Obama, and turning it around onto McCain, he is defending that line of attack by turning it around on McCain and making McCain into a Washington insider celebrity. If he started coming out and saying "No, I'm not a celebrity, that's false and a lie" then it would just give traction to the story. We'd see Wolf Blitzer come on the Situation Room and say "Obama claims not to be a celebrity, but is he? A new poll suggests 63% of people think Obama is like a celebrity. Here with us now is RNC Chairman Ken Melman to discuss this issue." I think it's a good move and it isn't exactly getting into the mud with McCain.

1. not grumbling but wish he'd turned it around faster
than 2 weeks. It would have been played ad nauseum along with McCain's at the time, now it's the Olymnpics and the MSM may ignore... he certainly won't get all the free exposure the McCain ad got.

3. I dig the ad
The most effective moment is the big, bold text that reads:

"NOTHING FOR YOU"
