Dear ABC News,
I'm wondering why only one line mentioning John McCain's affair was added to the very end of your story on Edwards' affair? You said he "strayed" (a nice way to say "cheated") from his first wife - actually he cheated on & abandoned her while she was recovering from a car accident, preferring to spend time with his then girlfriend Cindy, the rich heiress. Isn't that more interesting than the Edwards situation? Isn't that more relevant since McCain is running for President and Edwards is not?
(you're only allowed 500 characters or I would have said more)

To send them your own opinion, please go to:
http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=3271346&cat=World%20News%20with%20Charles%20Gibson

If you prefer US Mail, you can write them at ABCNews, 7 WEST 66th Street, New York, NY 10023.

And if you think this is important, please keep it kicked so others can see this and act as well. Thanks! :hi:

65. Here's mine:
I'm just wondering with all the fuss about Edwards personal life and the effort to link it to the Obama campaign, why is Obama being linked to Edwards actions, but McCain is not being held accountable for his own actions? Maybe because it's ok to cheat on your wife, as long as you leave her for your mistress, like McCain and Gingrich, but not ok if you stick by her to work things out like Edwards and Clinton... Who knew that's what "Republican Family Values" really meant?

When will you be doing an interview with John McCain about his infidelity to his first wife whom he cheated on and left after she waited for him to come back from VN and was in a serious accident? This would be truly relevent news as he is actually going to be a nominee of a major party and showed poor judgment on his part. He has made many other bad judgements since then, Keating five, vote for war, vote for tax breaks for the wealthy when we are at war to mention just a few,is this a pattern?

:hi: "I'm wondering why there has been no coverage of McCain's affair with Cindy while he was married to his first wife. The fact he cheated on his first wife and then divorced her and married his present wife seems like something the public should know as it goes to his character. All people know about him is he's a supposed "straight-talking maverick" which does NOT tell the whole story. Please show objectivity instead of cutting out parts of other interviews to shield him from public scrutiny."

35. Why wasn't Reagan's infidelity ever an issue during his heyday?
He's our only divorced president. He was sleeping with Nancy before his divorce with Jane Wyman was official. Nancy was two months pregnant when she married Ronnie.

But we never heard about that, did we. All we hear is that Reagan was this icon of what conservatives stand for, when his achievements were 180 degrees from what conservatives believe.

Dear ABC:

McCain strayed? I'd say openly chasing your young heiress girlfriend around while the mother of your children is recovering from a horrible accident is more like catting around. I'd say getting a marriage licence before you're divorced is more like bigamy than straying. And I'd say repeatedly covering up and covering for the candidate who will give you the biggest tax break is more like whoring around than it is delivering the news.

18. " 'strayed' my ass" is right! he needed money for his first congress. campaign; went after cindy
http://archive.salon.com/mwt/feature/2000/03/06/carol/index.html

"... It seems that McCain, who had once revealed to fellow prisoners of war in Vietnam that he wanted to be president, was restless in 1979. As Navy liaison to the Senate, he didn't have the career momentum he had counted on to propel him into an admiralty and on to the White House. He was 42, mired in stifling ordinariness. (Civilians call it "midlife crisis.")

"But McCain was making bold career moves on the home front, hotly pursuing a 25-year-old blond from a wealthy Arizona family -- while married. Carol, his wife at the time, had once been quite a babe herself apparently, until a near-fatal car accident (while her husband was in Vietnam) left her 4 inches shorter, overweight and on crutches. The couple had three children, whom Carol cared for alone while her husband was in Vietnamese prisons.

"McCain's strategy worked perfectly: After chasing Cindy Hensley around the country for six months, he closed the deal late in the year, had a divorce by February and was married to Hensley shortly thereafter. Bingo! McCain was a candidate for Congress by early 1982, his coffers full, his home in the proper Arizona district purchased.

"The story is compelling -- and repellent -- for a lot of reasons. And it raises some familiar questions. We have to wonder why Americans are able to excoriate a presidential candidate (or president) who cheats on his wife but accept one who did the same thing with the concentration and energy of a military strategist. Is it because McCain didn't get caught? Is it because he married his mistress? ..."

22. So When's The Brian Ross Report On Vickie Iseman?
Or how about a follow up on who those "sources" were who told you about the Bentonite in the anthrax sent to Senator Daschele?

Or how about releasing all the names from Debra Jean Palfry's list you have in your possession...the one where you seemed to miss out on David Vitter's name.

Or how about the connections between Isemann, Gramps, Bud Paxon, your own bosses. Oh, that's right, you need Gramps and his vote on the telecommunications committee to ensure your monopoly on the public airwaves and get even more "deregulation".

Nah...that just doesn't serve the agenda.

I'm just happy that they kinda got screwed with the debates. None at all! But it sucks that they don't seem to be suffering in ratings despite the crappiness of their news. When Obama was overseas, George Stephanapolous and co were too busy aiding and abetting the rest of the MSM in covering for McCain when he kept having those "senior moments."

"News" means to disseminate FACTS - all of the FACTS - not just the ones you are comfortable with. Why does ABC "News" work so hard to hide the truth about McCain? Are you now Fox "News?" Why did you cut Edward's comments about McCain's AFFAIR from your broadcast? Why did you cut it from the transcript?

59. An Incomplete List Of Republican Sex Scandals Since 2006, any others I missed?
Judge Alex Kozinski, It has been revealed that the Honorable Alex Kozinski, who is presiding over an obscenity case against a pornography distributor, has posted pictures on his personal website of women on all fours, painted as cows and men in the company of farm animals. The former Reagan White House Counsel was appointed by Reagan to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in 1985 at age 35, making him the youngest appeals court judge in the nation. Kozinski was rumored to have been on the short list of George W. Bush for appointment to the Supreme Court. Kozinski has a reputation of being "colorful." It now appears that no one remotely understood just how colorful the Republican jurist actually is.

Representative Vito Fossella ® NY, The conservative, family values congressman was arrested for drunken driving in May of 2008. Representative Fossella explained to the officer that he was traveling to visit with his mistress and his illegitimate daughter. After a firestorm of press over the details of Fossella’s arrest the Congressman withdrew his name for re-election on November’s ballot.

Randall Tobias, a 69 year old, married grandfather and head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs, who was en-charged with anti-prostitution efforts, has abruptly resigned after his name surfaced in an investigation into the “Washington DC Madam Scandal.”

Senator David Vitter ®-LA the “family values conservative” admitted, after he was exposed, that he had frequented the “Pamela Martin Escort Service,” in the infamous “Washington DC Madam Scandal.” Days later, according to the Madam at the equally infamous New Orleans “Canal Street Brothel,” Vitter was identified as a steady customer. She stated that Vitter "wasn't a freak or anything and didn't do drugs."
It is good to know that the Senator has some redeeming qualities.

Robert Somma ® MA The Bush appointed Federal Judge crashed his Mercedes Benz into the rear of a pickup truck on a Massachusetts road. The married, 63 year old, had difficulty removing his driver’s license from his purse according to the arresting police officer. Judge Somma was wearing fishnet stockings, high heels and a woman’s cocktail dress at the time of his arrest. On 2/15/2008 Judge Somma pled no contest to the DUI charge. He resigned his judgeship effective 4/1/2008. Mr Somma’s wife told reporters that her husband was not interested in talking with the press about the incident.

Donald Fleischman ® WI The chairman of Wisconsin’s Brown County Republican Party resigned after it was revealed he provided beer and alcohol to a 16 year old boy and then masturbated on the boy’s feet. Unable to find a capable replacement for Mr. Fleischman, the Brown County Republican Party has disbanded.

Jeffery Ray Nielsen ® CA, A prominent conservative activist of California’s Orange County Republican Party, has pled guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison for engaging in lewd sexual conduct with two boys, aged 12 and 14 years of age. Nielsen, a church youth counselor, met his first victim while in Washington DC working as an aide to Dana Rohrabacher ® CA. Nielsen had, until his guilty plea, blamed his legal woes on a “witch-hunt,” by liberal media.

Ted Klaudt ® SD State Representative Klaudt was found guilty on two counts of rape of his foster children. Klaudt “performed” breast and vaginal exams on the two young victims with a promise to harvest viable eggs to sell on the open market.
Klaudt awaits trial for three additional rape charges on other victims.
This case stands out as the textbook model for Republican sexual scandals, combining violation of trust and authority, deception, perversion, AND greed.

Richard Curtis ® of La Center WA, has resigned after admitting to having sex with a man he met in an erotic video store. Curtis, married, with children, has repeatedly voted against gay rights bills that have come before the Washington State legislature. Curtis claimed he spent the night with "Stallion," woke up in a motel bedroom dressed as a woman, and found his wallet missing.
"Stallion's" account differed. He stated that Curtis offered him $1000.00 for a night of sexual bliss but only came up with $200.00 bucks the next morning. 64. OK, here was mine:
Thanks for minimizing coverage of McCain's peccadilloes in your Edwards story. We all understand that sexual misconduct counts only against liberals, and is of no interest to anyone when it occurs among Republican Presidential candidates.

Disappointed that you find it necessary to protect John McCain from his own self-confessed history of adultery. You people are like Fox- only without the ratings...
