Edwards should now be prohibited from speaking at the DNC.
Total no brainer.

4. Former POTUS, it's not breaking news.
Although personally I'd rather him not speak, either.

21. I think if this were breaking news about Clinton, he wouldn't be speaking either.
It's a distraction.

11. I agree -- I wish Bill weren't speaking, too ...
And Edwards' political career (well, beyond local School
Board) is effectively over, I'm afraid. He should focus
on his Poverty Center at UNC and hope that his good works
will help redeem his reputation.

28. Took the words right out of my mouth.
You'd think Edwards was the first democrat who couldn't keep his dick in his pants. I don't say that to be flippant about what has happened--I was an Edwards supporter, and I'm deeply disappointed--but some of the responses here from the same people who love and adore the Big Dog are just a tad hypocritical.

3. I don't think he'll have to be 'prohibited'. I'm guessing he won't be asked.
Too much of a distraction.

12. I don't believe he will be asked either. A lesson on choices and consequences.
I only wish he would have been honest about it. That is what is really disappointing.

6. Why?
McCain abandoned his crippled wife for a rich woman, lets insist that he doesn't speak at his convention. Bill is going to speak, should we insist that he doesn't speak

This is the Republican playbook..I don't approve what he did, it was childish and immature.

15. I am with you. There is a big difference with what John Edwards did
and what John McCain did. McCain walked out and abandoned his severely injured wife forever to start a new life with heiress Cindy.

Edwards had an affair, but he did not abandon his wife. There is a important character difference there.

I don't have a problem with Edwards speaking at the Convention.

17. Apples and oranges. If Mitt Romney had cheated on his wife (and possibly had a love child)
rest assured he would not be speaking at the RNC, or serving as McCain's running mate.

take a position.

27. "Allowed" shouldn't enter into it.
Edwards will retire quietly, presumably to continue his good work outside of the government he's still better than.

9. BS. I still believe a man is entitled to his personl life, as much as
I have zero toleration for a cheating husband, this is between man and wife. You and I and Faux News, the Mike Barnacles of the world have nothing to say about this & should all shut up.

Let he who is without sin....you know the rest.

This episode is something the republicons will be celebrating, while most of them are hiding in the closet....enough is enough! Time for everyone to grow up and shut up. This is hard enough for his family & out of respect to them this story should be on ignore.

19. Imagine if Obama had picked him for VP
or had extensively campaigned with him? He would be sunk. And we would be facing 4 more years of Bush/McCain. To hell with Edwards. He needs to do a Spitzer and vanish from the public stage for several months.

I do not care about the affair or the child out of wedlock issue. But to run for president while carrying this bombshell (like it or not this is a big deal), it completely irresponsible and arrogant.

22. More BS....when is someone going to tell the press in answer
to questions of a personal nature, "It's none of your business!" Some things should be private and you sex life is one of them, unless it involves criminal behavior & this clearly does not qualify. People in this country are preoccupied with sex....& MSM is preoccupied with not doing their jobs, they are all nothing more than gossip columnists with smarmy attitudes.
