Obama Camp Uses Ohio DHL Issue Against McCain
from The Page - by Mark Halperin on TIME.com by krooney

The Land of Lincolner’s campaign unveils a radio ad airing in Ohio criticizing his rival’s campaign for their involvement in a DHL buyout deal that could cost the state more than 8,000 jobs.

“It was McCain who used his influence in the Senate to help foreign-owned DHL buy a U.S. company and gain control over the jobs that are now on the chopping block in Ohio.”

Listen to it here. -- http://my.barackobama.com/page/-/Press/ads-radio/Stop%20It%20R5%20broadcast.mp3

Obama camp holds 2:30 pm ET media call with manager Plouffe to discuss ad.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports McCain helped lobby for the deal in the Senate, and McCain campaign manager Rick Davis was part of the lobbying firm trying to push it through.

Here's the Ad script:

ANNCR: July 9. 2008. Portsmouth, Ohio. Here's what John McCain said about DHL’s plans to eliminate 8,200 Ohio jobs.

JOHN MCCAIN (from Ohio town hall): I gotta look you in the eye and give you straight talk. I don't know if I can stop it or not or if it will be stopped.

ANNCR: But there’s something John McCain's not telling you: It was McCain who used his influence in the Senate to help foreign-owned DHL buy a U.S. company and gain control over the jobs that are now on the chopping block in Ohio. And that's not all: McCain's campaign manager was the top lobbyist for the DHL deal...helped push it through. His firm was paid $185,000 to lobby McCain and other Senators. Now 8,200 Ohioans are facing layoffs, and foreign-owned DHL doesn't care.

JOHN MCCAIN (from Ohio town hall): I gotta look you in the eye and give you straight talk.

ANNCR: John McCain. Same old politics. Same failed policies.

BARACK OBAMA: I'm Barack Obama, candidate for President, and I approved this message. Paid for by Obama for America.

Just a few minutes ago, in another thread, you were calling Texas "racist"; now you're over here, trying to spread the discord over in this thread.

12. Not the region- just the assholes who go to church, hate Democrats, dream they will win the
lottery and then join the restricted country clubs to get away from "certain kinds" of people.

Do you deny that there are places in the country that are "better" on issues like equality, environmentalism, etc.?

It is not the fault or credit of the land. It's the people who live there.

And in that other thread, the OP was trying to say that having slightly higher percentages of "minorities" automatically makes a place like Texas less racist than Michigan. The response citing South Africa shot that down pretty effectively.

5. they should do a tv ad on this too.
I just read about the radio ad on Politico...of course, the freepers were all defensive in "But...but...jobs grew in Ohio immediately after the deal. This wasn't Davis' fault...and...um...Canada/Nafta-gate!".
