VP Announcement isn't going to happen till the convention....
That's my thought anyway, what does everyone else think?

The Olympics start tomorrow and no candidate is going to announce during the events, and then Obama's on vacation in Hawai'i until just before the convention and the Olympics end the day before the convention starts. Thoughts?

2. Second week of Olympics.
I think a lot of the popular events will be over by the middle of the second week. And people might be a bit Olympics-weary by that point. So, around Wednesday or Thursday (August 20 or 21) might be a reasonable time to announce. A four or five day buildup to the convention's start.

4. There is another post
By Riverstone on this that suggests Obama pick before the convention, and I agree. If he waits till the convention and he does "not" pick Hillary as VP, there could be some pretty angry people on national TV. If he picks before the convention as Riverstone suggests, then it gives the Hillary supporters time to come to grips with the fact there will be someone else as the VP. I think this is a great idea, and I would hate to see the convention turn into a protest by angry supporters of Hillary who become upset when she does not get the VP slot.

6. How sad is that?
I don't disagree with your analysis, but isn't it sad that the Obama campaign actually has to plan its strategy, not around McCain, but around the very real possibility of "Hillary supporters" intentionally trying to derail and harm the campaign?

5. Good! I like the tradition returning.
I think it adds drama and suspense to an otherwise dull affair (that is until Obama speaks). I'm not worried either about a rovote by Hillary supporters.
