5. True! Too many people might vote for Obama just because of his melanin content!
I mean......that's just a given.

That's why all those white people sit at the beach or go to tanning salons.
They want to be like him!

Or they can just vote for the ugly White Old guy!

6. I'm not allowed to start a new topic
so I'll just post these lyrics here...

They pretty much sum up my opinion. :)

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didnt you?
Peopled call, say, beware doll, youre bound to fall
You thought they were all kiddin you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin out
Now you dont talk so loud
Now you dont seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Youve gone to the finest school all right, mr. lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out youre gonna have to get used to it
You said youd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
Hes not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it aint no good
You shouldnt let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a siamese cat
Aint it hard when you discover that
He really wasnt where its at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
Theyre drinkin, thinkin that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But youd better lift your diamond ring, youd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you cant refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
Youre invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

I don't know how Ron Paul kept from rolling his eyes.

19. Good question because I think people forget who really incapcitated he can get
and when they are on the same stage together I would expect several of these moments.

28. Reagan had several of those moments vs Mondale
didn't hurt him

the influence of the debates is overrated - look at 2004

Kerry made Bush look a fool.

30. Reagan also had many good points during the debate and Mondale was lackluster

Kerry won the debates but also irritated people with his style.

The contrast between Senator Obama and McCain will be the most significant of any debate to date, IMHO.

35. Reagan was a very upbeat guy with a positive image and
message.

McCain's a ball of negative energy and rage which he'll have trouble concealing on stage with Obama.

38. Reagan had several moments during that debate
where he lost track of what he was talking about. I remember, at the time, thinking that there was something wrong with him. Then we find out years later that he was already being affected by his Alzheimer's.

Point is this - don't expect, as the OP of this subthread does, that any incapacity from McCain is going to have some great effect on this election. I'm sure McCain will be going out of his way to conceal his anger - and if Obama's campaign so far is any indication I don't expect Obama to goad him.

39. I agree. I watched those debates.
I think McCain's slips-up will be more in the emotive than logic area and I think that could have a greater effect - especially on undecideds.

I don't know whether Obama will goad him or not at the debates...but he's got him so goaded right now that McCain will have to be tranquilized to remain tranquil during the debates. I think McCain's already lost control. Thus his need to be personally identified with the ads from last week.

10. Confident
When we narrowed it to either a woman or a black man we eliminated landslide potential. That's simply reality.

BTW, I post on several sports forums and the right wing posters suddenly are using that picture of a tired Obama with a cigarette dangling from his mouth in their avatar or sig. It can't be a coincidence. Just within the past few days I've seen a dozen examples on different forums. I would guess that conservative sources are distributing that photo. We'll probably see it in a commercial.

11. I like that pic of Obama with the cigarette. He looks like America.
We're all tired, and we're all having one last cig.

It's been a long time since we've had a president willing to have a cigarette. And willing to say that he should quit.

But always careful enough to do so off camera. Look at his mum though. The woman looked like she was 60 when she was a teenager for gods sake.

17. mccain's response to ron paul's question should seal his fate
especially if a like response is given during a debate with Obama. mccain, no doubt, is an idiot.

But, we witnessed a similar performance in 2004 during Kerry/bush 1, that time, after damn near every question. Americans were stupid enough to vote that guy in (or get him close enough to allow him steal it).

I truly wish seeming incompetence, stupidity, would nullify someone's chances of becoming president. It should. But, when you see mccain's supporters applauding his abysmal class standing, I don't know if we are there yet. To some, it appears ignorance is endearing....

20. The more time I spend working
with what ever needs to be done, locally, the more confident I get. I think sometimes, the daily swings of the media deflates our enthusiasm. Nothing like a little work for the canidate in real time to get you pumped back up.

23. I have found, some people really are getting all their news
from hell hound radio, and internet emails. There truly is such a thing as a low information voter. And once that idea is there, it is like trying to tear out tree roots. They get it, but they don't also. They want to hang on to that because it gives them an out to keep voting republicon. They have no support for McCain, or at least very few do. They are looking for anything to support their political stance.

"Pretty confident about Obama's chances." If it's very close, they could steal it. It's not that I dismiss bad news; I just don't trust the Gallup and Rasmussen polls and think both the big leads and ties must be scrutinized.

And it will be the result of his backbreaking GOTV effort.

41. I voted "pretty confident about Obama".
I'm CERTAIN he will win as long as McCain doesn't bring up anything nasty in Obama's past.

I'm sure that Dean and Pelosi vetted Obama first though... so I don't think that will happen.

Folks, this year will be a SLAM DUNK for Dems.

I'm gonna party ALL NIGHT LONG!
