My sympathies are with those who fell for Chris Matthews's trick
I know how it feels, it happened to me.

But from now on there's no excuse for thinking Tweety has "turned."

We have a saying here at DU, fool me once... :-)

6. Chris Matthews, MSNBC
He has a program called "Hardball" and last Thursday he came down hard on a neocon woman.

(though I don't think he held Bush responsible)

and some people thought Tweety was on our side now.

4. Tweedy is Tweedy.
He makes his own path and always pisses off somebody. Some days he's a friend, and some days he's an enemy. That's just Tweety.

9. Matthews tends to call it down the middle
I remember the good ol' days when most TV news people did this.

In fact, I prefer this kind of approach.

Face it, Matthews will never be a liberal Hannity. Nor should he. He does well doing what he's doing now.

"down the middle"

are we talking about the same Tweety? The guy that still sees a Clinton conspiracy behind everything, and invited every RW elf on during the bogus impeachment?

19. Making fun of someone's accent and implying that Kerry
didn't take much of a political risk by protesting the war is not "down the middle." It's not left or right either. It's just trivializing the debate. That's why he did so well in the Malkin/Matthews smackdown. No one out-trivializes Matthews. He almost hyperventilated when he was talking about how Kerry pronounced certain words in the Cavett interview.

He loves the game of politics and that's what he focuses on...the meaningless drivel (I find it interesting too but not as a main diet).

22. Matthews is weird
He's an attack dog.

And when predators smell blood, they attack.

I think there's room for those types in TV news. Better than the no substance imitators like Hannity who wear their partisanship on their sleeves.

I'm sick of the thinking that every journalist has to have a conservative or liberal label. Why can't they NOT be labeled? Why can't we have more equal opportunity offenders?

And if he's going to talk about Kerry's accent, shouldn't he talk about Bush*'s accent some time?

11. He didn't do so bad tonight.
What did you want him to do, call Hutchinson a liar? She did admit she knew these creatures, and she wasn't nasty either.

He called Buchanan on nit picking on the Cambodia thing, and gave Cavet every chance to do a slam. Poor old Dick looked so old he was having trouble thinking at all.

I don't know if he should have destroyed her...

During the 00 campaign I saw her on the Larry King show with the other female senators and she'd said she refused to campaign against HRC because she wanted to see more women senators...

Anyway...he's an "Asshole Pig" who feeds on the trough of $$$$$'s maintaning his second and third homes across the US while the rest of us are out in the cold...worrying about bills, jobs and our families.
:puke: on Mr. Tweet with his "collwge guy...one of the guys" attitude. An old guy pretending..because the Whore Media won't allow any REAL Collge guys/gals because they are too "skeeered."

That's how.. But because he's a big mouth folks on the left like him like folks on the Right loved Gingrich and the other "tough guys," telling them the truth "fair and straight."

Yeah...I'm really hard on him. He ties to look like he's with the under 40 group and is so hip...but he's shallow and in it for the buck.

I know, I sound like someone's crotchety relative...Here ...LOL's

25. Chris Matthews is the least of our concerns
He'll slant toward Kerry more than not for the balance of the campaign, just as he has been doing for months, for those of you not paying attention. His final 40 minutes tonight were much more pro-Kerry than the first 20 were negative.

Matthews despises anything Clinton so we'll never get a fair break when they are on topic. And during debate nights he'll let Peggy Noonan painfully ramble with that eyes-closed, pitchfork-up-the-ass style of hers. Beyond that, I guarantee at least a 55-45 tilt in our favor, much better than virtually anywhere else on cable.

30. Maybe...Chris wanted to go...
to the Rep. convention. By sunday is was whispered that he had been threatened that he would not be invited..It is after all his job, give him a bit more time to see if he can come back and do a second round that inspired so many to write him and congratulate him on his defense of Kerry. But the more that I recall that interview, the more I remember one telling statement Chris made..

"My brother is a Veteran" Perhaps it was not done in defense of Kerry at all but for his brother, the anger at Malkin I mean questioning whether Kerry shot himself on purpose.

32. Can you believe this???
Gasbag, Clinton's cigar cutter is the most important thing that threatens us, Matthews smells the right wing slime, pulling a David Bossie on him, and calls them to task. The respond by not allowing any flat earth, knuckle draggers to appear on his show.

Is anyone boneheaded enough to think that's going to dumb down the gasbags? Geez, our gasbags ratings have gone up a few points just making fun of this.
