John McCain: We go negative so Obama doesn't have to.
Is anybody else enjoying watching McCain destroy his own brand with these negative attacks?

He is systematically dismantling his image as a "maverick" and "straight-shooter" by repeatedly attacking Obama using the oldest attacks in book. Gone is the notion that McCain is anything but a typical politician.

Keep up the good work, Johnny! :hi:

This Dem thanks you and enthusiastically challenges you to discover how low you're willing to go!

P.S. Obama's daughters pointed out that he doesn't like ice cream. How un-American! This sounds like something Americans need to be distracted by know about!!

1. His brand is irrelevant.
His hope is to so tarnish Obama that people are willing to settle for him without actually thinking about what he stands for.

5. I don't think he's asking people to accept a sub-par brand...
I think he's trying to force them to accept sub-par policies.

He's doing this at the expense of his brand.

29. his only problem is he is not the sitting President
that strategy worked for Bush because he was already there.
he could play on people's desire not to change horses.

That is not the case this year. McCain can't just play nasty and be elected by default.
He has to actually earn the vote, and he is just not doing that.

Remember I said these things to you in the Fall.
At least you could learn something from this. I doubt McCain will.

2. Exactly> McCain apparently learned from 2000, South carolina primary, if you can't
beat the Rove smear machine, and he couldn't, then join them.

His own adopted child was attacked, and then he embraces Dubby and says it's all just politics.

I'd call him a prostitute, but that's not fair to all the good prostitutes.

11. He hires the same people who crafted those racist smears against him..
then pretends he's not running a racist campaign. Not very well, I might add.

could they get us any more motivated for the Fall? This goes beyond the swiftboating. This is just un fucking believable.

3. I think your right
Hopefully the MSM will actually keep reporting that McYucky is tarnishing is image. I want to puke every time I hear them refer to him as a "maverick" because he is anything but a maverick. He is a lying, mean, desperate little man.

In fact I think that women should be offended that he would throw Britney and Paris into his stupid attack add for the point of showing how "low" he thinks of Obama by showing them in contrast as "low people". He just loves to disrespect women. I wish the media would report that. All this attacking he is doing so fast has got to do something to hurt him. I sure hope it does anyway.

He has ANOTHER attack up with racial tension and it's over at huffington post.

8. The way to handle this is to keep saying, "These tactics are beneath McCain".
That way it's not you who is insulting him, he's insulting himself.

It's really quite clever. And I'm glad to see Obama taking this approach.

That McCain ad you linked...well, not so clever. But thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Obama needs to keep up the cockiness. He nees to throw his screaming crowds of adoring supporters in their faces.

6. BULLSHIT! So what he's gone negative? People go w/the devil they know (McCain). Stop making excuses
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 02:00 PM by cryingshame
for Obama's inept campaign.

There will be no point where McCain has gone "too negative" because they are still controlling the narrative.

And people vote for the devil they know.

It's disgusting to see so many DU"ers actually appreciate the whining coming from Obama's team. Their ads are weak & ineffective.

So I don't see where I praised their "whining" or mades "excuses" for them.

But whatever, thanks for your comments I guess.

How much money have you contributed? And what are you doing to help? I don't expect an answer.

7. All these new ads do is point out how enthused people are about Obama, and how bitter McCain is
about it.

Too bad he only has two feet and has already shot himself in both.
Next time, it may be a more significant body part.

10. Sure, that's why Obama's numbers are dropping. And Democrats can't afford to have that happen
This week should have never happened and it's OBAMA"S CAMPAIGN that failed to use the prime opportunity to kick McCain's ass which was handed to them on a silver platter.

25. During the...
...primaries, I always found it interesting that candidate support could pretty accurately be predicted based on opinion of "attack style" politics.

Obama's bringing a new game. Not all of those obsessed with the "it's them vs. us" mentality are able to understand his strategy.

Obama's tracking poll numbers are irrelevant... there will be ebb and flow in those numbers for the next three months.

I'm glad the Obama campaign isn't in panic mode like you are.

Relax.

are oddly positive images. Smiling, crowds of adoring supporters yelling his name. Images are what people remember, not words.

I enjoyed watching him squirm like a worm with John King last night. He's not a very good liar.

Just another sleazy shit-slinging politician, not much of a maverick.
