African American protestors heckle Obama
MIAMI (AFP) — African American protestors holding a banner reading "What about the black community Obama?" heckled Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama in Florida on Friday.

Three men stood up as Obama was talking about the economy during a townhall meeting in St Petersburg in Florida, a key battleground state in Obama's duel with Republican John McCain in November's election.

"What about the black community?" the protestors chanted, prompting Obama's crowd of supporters to chant his slogan "Yes We Can" to drown them out.

"Excuse me, young man, this is going to be a question and answer session, so you can ask a question later," Obama told the protestors.

"Sit down. You'll have a chance to ask your questions, but you don't want to disrupt the whole meeting. Just be courteous," he said, before going back to his prepared remarks.

1. Those guys would be thrown out of a republican event.
And possibly also roughed up by the "family values" types in the crowd.

4. Let me guess: They think Obama is an Oreo?!
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 11:24 AM by HypnoToad
He may arguably be an Oreo, but they are undeniably crackers. Completely crackers!

(And, no, I don't know where or how food analogies came into place regarding behavior patterns, general sanity, or anything else...)

6. Just Curious - Did Obama Come Back To Them During Q&A......
and what was their issue and how did he handle it? I would think that if he did ultimately let them have their say - that it should be big news.

7. Yes. They were concerned that he wasn't speaking out enough (or at all, as they believed)...
On issues like the Jena 6, Shawn Bell, Katrina, etc.

Obama corrected them that he has spoken out on each of these issues, but that, ultimately, he believes we must work on them together, rather than as blacks vs. whites vs. Asians vs. Hispanics, etc.

11. For some reason, AFP leaves that part out...
Guess they still haven't settled on their angle of attack.

No... it won't be big news.

The protesters, yeah... that might get wide coverage.

The fact that he answered them and that their question was silly because he has addressed all the issues they claimed to think he hadn't addressed... no... not gonna see that in the M$M. Not a chance.

13. Sounds like Republican dirty tricks.
This just doesn't sound legit to me. It is lot like the "iron my shirts" guys in NH.
