McCain and MSM have said that Obama is bringing race into it by talking about his face on dollar bill.

As a collectibles dealer I ran across a mug once that had the image of Richard Nixon on a dollar bill. I think it was made by Holt Howard. While learning about the mug, I discovered that an entire shipment of them had been confiscated by the Secret Service because they violated a law about altering currency and that's why the mug had more value than you would expect.

Obama just described the ad. McCain said Obama was bringing race into it by describing the ad. So, either McCain's original ad brought race into it first, or there was no race issue until McCain jumped on Obama's comments. Either way, McCain brought up race. The original ad did might have racial overtones, but it's done in a way to give McCain plausible deniability -- you see Obama's picture replacing all these white people, and it uses the kind of low-contrast photos that are traditionally used to make black men look scary. They are certainly implying that Obama doesn't belong no Mt. Rushmore or the dollar bill, but Obama never said anything at all to suggest he did, so it's up to viewers to figure out why he doesn't belong. It's not a stretch to say that their goal is to remind people again and again that Obama is different than the majority.

ABC had an article with the heading "Obama admits he played the race card" (doesn't deserve to be dignified with a link), and it has this illustration (which is not the same one as the one that appears in the ad, but looks like it)



The odd thing is that this illustration is of Obama on a $100 bill, not a dollar bill. Why would they even think to do that based on what has been discussed? But they must have known about the McCain video where it is actually a $100 bill.

Yet, still no mention of the McCain ad.
