BIDEN! BIDEN! BIDEN!
I want to go on the record as supporting Biden for Obama's VP. He's not perfect, and I would never claim that he was. But he will not back down. He will say what is on his mind, especially in regards to foreign policy. And he knows his stuff.

For better or worse, Obama is a nice guy. He's not an attack dog. Biden will fulfill that role.

We've had "nice guys" for our last two VP nominees and how has that worked out?

Delaware is small and tends to re-elect the same people - the governor is done with two terms and would be the next logical senator and she is a Democrat.

They could then spend the entire campaign season saying how Obama is so weak in foreign policy that he needs someone like Biden to help him out, and that he is flip-flopping on his stance about going to war in Iraq because he picked a VP who voted for the war.

This recent trip demonstrated why it won't be Biden.

in the end, the vp pick really is of very little consequence to a candidate like Obama. So who ever he picks is going to be fine. Unlike the current resident of the white house, he is not going to need his hand held by a older mentor (aka cheney).. Every time someone starts in with that experience meme, I just have to think what experience got us. :)

to attract and reassure those who may be leery of Obama for whatever their reason might be.

I agree, it's not that Obama will need a Cheney by any means, but it matters on the ticket strategically, IMO.

Experience may not be the best route to go, but I feel it needs to be someone whose presence on the ticket might translate into a vote.

40. She might bring the party together,
but I'm not sure how her high Republican negative rating would play out at the polls in November. We have to think beyond US, and do what will strategically get us the most votes. (That's a problem with many of the potential candidates we would love to see - they may not bring in the support from the other side.)

Obama has been vocal and out front attacking first Clinton and then McCain for their support of that "suck-up" legislation for the banks and credit lenders.

To pick Biden would be hypocritical after being so strong on the issue. To some of us, Biden's siding with the banks and lenders against the economically devastated is just as problematic as a pro-life VP would be for some of the rest of you...

<http://socialistworker.org/2004-1/491/491_02_BuyingPoliticians.shtml>

Anyway, he got a ton of money from MBNA (major credit card issuer). His son (and if IIRC other family members) get a lot of money from MBNA. Biden was the motive force on the bankruptcy bill from a few years ago that would not allow people to discharge credit card debt (meaning they could never get rid of the debt) and also got rid of mortgage "cram down" ability of bankruptcy judges.

His connections with MBNA make Cheney look like an uninterested observer of KBR.
