My 7-Year-Old's Interpretation of McCain's Commercial and His Philosphy on Cheating Presidents
He runs down into the kitchen and announces, "I think they're trying to blame Obama for high gas prices..."

"Why do you think that?"

"Because I just saw the 'John McCain for President' commercial on teevee. It's like they're blaming Barack Obama for high gas prices...they're like 'Who can we blame for high gas prices?' and then Barack Obama just poofs up. And then it says 'Vote for John McCain."

Me: "So, do you think that's true?"

"Well, no."

Me: "Why not?"

"Because, uhm, Barack Obama wasn't even running at the time gas prices started raising, and, I just don't think it's true. How can one man be responsible for gas prices, anyway? I think they're lying. Doesn't the war in Iraq have something to do with high gas prices? Does John McCain have lot's of votes?"

Me: "I don't think so."

"What if he cheats like the old President? I don't think presidents should be allowed to cheat." Then he shrugs and walks away.

1. Savvy 7 yo! My kids are slightly older and aren't even sure which candidate belongs to which party.
Not too interested in politics yet.

2. lol, he's been going to protests since before he was old enough to walk and talk
practically. And, he asks a lot of questions! In '04, when he was 3, he got into arguments with his preschool teachers about Kerry vs Bush. My bias in politics comes through pretty readily with all my kids, at least at this age, it does, lol.
