I think that most sane people on Planet Earth will soon be placing their hope and faith in this inspirational man to win the election and start the planet on its long road to recovery. Not only is this election one in which we Democrats cannot afford to lose, it's an election the entire world cannot afford to lose.

This election will be Democrats (with the support of The World) vs the warmongering Republicans. Barring any monumental mistakes on our part, the Republicans' sorry way of life will soon be OVER.

3. The world will be heartbroken if this country elects McCain.
I feel horrible for this country when I think how McCain may win. The shock to the entire world will be overwhelming.

So many people have put their hopes in Obama. No one even cares about McCain. But the US media is trying its damndest to hand it to the one that nobody wants.

4. I think a McCain presidency would be like Gerald Ford's
Short and ineffective. The thing I fear most about it is more right wing ideologues on the Supreme Court. The world can endure four years of McCain as painful as it may be. But I don't know if the constitution can.

7. Ford may be a good comparison for McCain (I hope so, anyway),
Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 11:31 PM by Walter Sobchak
but Ford didn't beat Barack Obama (or anyone else) to win the presidency.

I think the world, in a normal election, would be somewhat ambivalent about McCain the candidate. What the world will be heartbroken about is Obama losing.

6. One of my top reasons for supporting Obama early on
He can relate to the world on better terms than any candidate in decades or maybe even ever, because he is more invested in the rest of the world than most people. He doesn't just have empathy for photographs. They are his family in Indonesia and Kenya.
"World peace" is as entirely different concept to this man. I think that is why he jumped on nuclear proliferation as soon as he got to the Senate.
We will be so privileged to have someone with this perspective as president. We have to hold him accountable just as any other candidate, but I really think that his personal attributes create an amazing possibility for our world relationships.
