10. Weren't the words "left" and "right" just arbitrarily linked to

to liberalism/conservatism? It could have easily been the other way around. It would be a mistake to look any deeper than that, IMO. If your co-worker wants to discuss which one is better, you guys should talk about the actual origins of liberalism vs conservatism.
