McCain Denies CBS Interview Mistatements on Iraq
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 10:34 PM by President Decider
Holy Jesus .... you can't make this shit up folks!

Get this, in an unexpeced trip to the grocery store (wink, wink), McCain gives an impromptu interview with reporters in the dairy section and denies he made mistatements.

He told reporters that, what the Bush administration calls "the surge" was actually "made up of a number of components," some of which began before the president's order for more troops.

Can you believe he's actually trying to play teh semantics card? LMAO!!! ... this guy has lost his marbles.

4. Stinky cheese
I believe he should have had his 'unscheduled stop' in the produce section because McCain and company really believe turnips can vote.

7. Yep. So he must either admit that he lied -OR- that the surge failed.
Wonder which one he'll pick!

Ooh, the suspense is killing me!

16. How is Obama responsible for what McCain said?
Is he tutoring McCain in remedial foreign policy and botch that lesson?

Blame Obama.

10. I read somewhere that the Anbar awakening was all about payoffs and bribes
I wish I could find that old post on DU that discussed the fact that it wasn't the increase in troops that pacified the Sunni areas of Iraq, it was money paid to the war lords and religious leaders to stand down.

21. I remember reading something like that
on DU when it happened..who knew we'd need it down the line?

I found this..

"Actually Senator, it's not part of history, it's only part of John McCain's Land of Lies. Col. MacFarland credited Sunni's and Shi'ites for cracking down on militias and al Qaeda four months before the surge was even announced.

Furthermore, most of Col. MacFarland's troops were removed from the area McCain claims they were in, before the surge.

Lastly, McCain himself was in Iraq in early 2007, before the surge, and credited Sunni and Shi'ite leaders with taking on militias and al Qaeda and reducing violence. Something McCain now claims didn't happen until months later, despite video of McCain in Iraq long before the surge complimenting Sunni and Shi'ite leaders.

Yet a year and a half later, McCain lies his ass off to make Obama look bad, and not only does the Huffington Post slap McCain on the wrist and say he's "confused" (which is complete bullshit - and even if he were simply confused it's another reason he should never be president) but now we find out CBS news edited out McCain's lie."

ending with this:

Note to self: if I ever run for President and decide to stake everything on my understanding of one thing, I should familiarize myself with the basic facts about it. I should be especially careful to do this before I say something like this about someone who got it right: "I don't know how you respond to something that is such a false depiction of what actually happened."

so far I've seen NOBODY put his completely mendacious responses into this sort of stark relief
