Fineman: McCain's dark days in Obama's shadow

snip//

McCain had better watch out the only thing worse than the media ignoring you and lionizing your opponent is the media pitying you and painting you as pathetic.

You cant make up how bad things are going for McCain and how much he has brought on himself.

He was just trying to be the good ol candid candidate a few months back when he said he didnt know much about economic policy.

Now that hes assembled a plan for the economy, its contradictions and loopholes are all too evident given the author.

Then, the broadcast networks invite McCain to appear on their morning shows, feeling guilty over their anchors-away coverage of Obamapalooza.

So, what does he do? He forgets that theres a country named Iran between Iraq and Pakistan. You cant make this stuff up.

"We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border, McCain said on ABC News, effectively wiping Iran off the map.

Maybe nothing he says really matters right now.

The fact is, while Obama is receiving the Brangelina treatment in Europe, you can hear crickets in McCain's America.

1. The press needed to be weaned off McCain, convinced of Obama as their CIC
Too much Obama proof, superiority, in their faces campaign success, strength for their own futures, not to rethink their total McC subservience. Media masters one thing, but I wonder if we'll get slighter fairer.

The 527s another story.

7. Don't count on the press being
more fair..they still have their corporate masters to appease.

Obama's doing an excellent job over there and it's hard to report otherwise but some like andrea freakin' mitchell are finding a way.

13. More my wishful thinking. The pros/hacks like Fineman are too jaded.
seen it before. They will outlast administrations, not get too invested, and meantime tamper with governent and peoples' right to choose their candidate based on facts.

14. Yeah, I know what
you mean and my hope is the cosmic pendulum swings one day and renders these mediawhores useless to their masters.

2. Howard's right...even I can hear the crickets! The thing I still don't understand
is why all the polls claim this race is still very close or even tied! I have a hard time believing that the polsters are just making up info. It's their reputation for god sake! I can't be objective...I admit that. I easily find lots of reasons why McNuts is not qualified to be POTUS, but damn it! It looks so obvious that he a screwup hunting for a place to do one again. Why do all the polsters not picking up on that?

6. For all of his faults, McCain should be greatful to even be the
nominee of a major political party.

8. I agree, his terminology in this article, when referring to Obama, is sneering, imo...
This paragraph stood out for me along with the one with reference to "brangelina":

"As Barack Obama embarks on his global coronation tour, its hard to imagine things looking much bleaker for his Republican rival."

"global coronation tour" ?????

Fineman has always been an asshole, imo, and he is doing nothing to change my view on that.

10. Agreed
Fineman apparently thinks that the media goes too easy on Obama and his reference to Obama as casting present votes in the IL state senate was uncalled for. He's an ass.

9. Awe comeon. Howard is an okay guy. I think he's one of the few
talking heads who try to be pretty straight. Think about how WE'D feel if all this GREAT PRESS was being bestowed on McNuts? I agree, Barack is doing a GREAT JOB on this European trip, and in EVERY PHOTO he looks likehe's very comfortable with every leader he meets and they are with him too. But I certainly understand why McNuts & his supporters are feeling ignored.
