Kerry: Slo-Mo on Swifties
By MAUREEN DOWD

Published: August 22, 2004

Meanwhile, the Bush crew is shamelessly doing to Mr. Kerry what it once did to Mr. McCain: suggesting that the decorated Vietnam vet has snakes in his head and a temperament problem. "Senator Kerry appears to have lost his cool," Scott McClellan told reporters in Crawford on Friday. And the Bush campaign chairman, Marc Racicot, said on CNN that Mr. Kerry looked "wild-eyed" responding to Swift boat muck.

It makes sense for W. to use surrogates to do his fighting, just as he did when he slid out of Vietnam and just as he did when he sent our troops to fight his administration's misbegotten vanity war in Iraq.

3. Maureen does actually make sense quite often now
"Wild-eyed" is the new word for the season. It's this year's "pink."

I'll take the wild-eyed over the evil-eyed any day!

4. That line against Kerry cracks me up. The Repug line was that Kerry
was too cautious and indecisive or some crap like that but now everyone should be afraid of him because he is "wild-eyed" and has "lost his cool".

I think it helps Kerry to look pissed off at this sh@# instead of ignoring it completely.

9. What spokesperson said the term "wild-eyed?" That person needs
to be fired for saying things that are untrue. What Kerry needs to propose when he gets in office is that any media outlet will be able to contribute funds to any political party because it allows for this one sided reporting. Cable news is just Right Wing Republician news. I think the reporter who said such a statement is bi-polor and was being very dramatic in his assessment and the reporter looked very wild-eyed and insane saying it.

12. The * spokesperson on Inside Politics on CNN on Friday said Kerry was
looking wild-eyed.

They used this stuff on McCain, Dean and Gore already.

6. This is what I don't get!!!
"How pathetic is it that he's playing defense on Vietnam when W. didn't even serve?

WHY doesn't he say this? Why doesn't he begin laughing at the attacks and say, "Oh RIGHT! THIS from a party that's supporting a guy who didn't even BOTHER to show up for duty?"

8. They do and say outrageous, inflamatory stuff then....
call those who react angrily to it crazy.

It's what the Republicans have mastered over the years: Define the terms
of the discussion so that Democrats are always on the defensive. They
pump millions of dollars in to Conservative "think tanks" where people sit
around figuring just out how to do this.

11. Bush gets to make Kerry
play on a golf course that is 80% sand traps and the media does not really notice.

13. Here's a thought ...
New Kerry ad:
The term 'wild eyed' fades onto the screen,
then flip to Kerry, standing rock solid, giving his opening salute at the convention last month.
Then 'wild eyed ?(huge question mark)' fades in over it ...

Screen goes black.

Then 'wild eyed' fades in again, then flips to Bush in 2000 (referring gleefully to Karla Faye Tucker) "Oh please oh please don't kill me smirky snorty etc"
Then 'wild eyed' (NO question mark) fades in again.

Screen goes black.
