Mary Matalin Canít Say McCain Is Running A Good Campaign
During a double segment on last nightís (7/22/08) Hannity & Colmes, Alan Colmes several times asked Republican spokeswoman Mary Matalin whether or not Senator John McCain is running a good campaign. Matalin repeatedly ducked the question. With video.

A year ago Sean Hannity was squawking about a "direct assault on the First Amendment" via what he feared was an attempt to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Now, it's free market be damned as he keeps whining that John McCain is not getting the same amount of press coverage as Barack Obama.

FOX Newsí Democratic newcomer, Howard Wolfson, did an excellent job of arguing that Republicans should quit bellyaching about the unfairness and start running a better campaign.
At about 3:22 minutes into the first segment, Colmes asked Matalin if she thought McCain is running a good campaign.

Matalin answered with a non-sequitor. I could not understand exactly what she said but it sounded like, ďThis is not 1992 and Iím not suggesting that nor the media was, what McCain should be doing or any kind of strategy like that.Ē Matalin continued with a lengthy statement that never answered Colmesí question.

1. Well duh. Look who the candidate is. Kind of makes it hard to run a good campaign
don't you think?

2. The Matalin-Carville alliance are probably working hard
on staying relevant right now. It's quite the lifestyle they have become accustomed to and would undoubtedly like to maintain.

3. If Matalin can't spin it....
No spin for McCain? If she can't spin it, then the game is over for McSame. He is self-destructing....

4. Wolfson did a really nice job during that segment.
For some reason, that surprised me. :-)

5. McCain is using the surge like Bush used 911
People are just not falling for it again, its a different time now people are concerned with their jobs education health care energy. McCain is totting the war and the most American people see the war as a mistake. McCain is running on the surge as its his saving grace because he thinks he is better on National Security and he thinks he is going to ride in on this one.

6. Well, McCain's campaign isn't that bad for a corpse.
Even during the primary, his staff were bailing out the window every 20 minutes or so. And he's never exactly been a favorite of the GOP base.

The polling in several key states suggest that the next 4 months are going to be very stressful for McCain, his staff, and the GOP generally.

Katie Couric can't be there to hide his gaffes every time.

I hope there's no end to the blue balloons on election night.

7. McCain's campaign is best described as a "duck and cover" campaign.
Because they are going to get blown out of the race since they have adopted all of Bush's worst policies.
