| Scummy rethug commercial: gas prices |
|
Caught a commercial earlier today that was overtly blaming Obama for the high gas prices. Basically asked "Who's responsible?" and then showed a picture of Barack. It pissed me off massively, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Republicans use fear tactics to work the public into a panic, and panicked people don't think straight, they're easy to direct and control. And people are panicked and distraught about the gas prices. Leave it to the damn rethugs to take advantage of that. I honestly believe Obama is going to win in November, there's almost no way he can't win - and I say almost, because there are still those fear tactics brewing, that could stampede the masses into voting against their own interests yet again.
What I'd like to see, is for the Obama campaign to turn that slimey commercial around, and turn it into the truth. "Who's responsible for the high gas prices??" The Bush Administration and our hardworking Republican Congresspeople (including, for instance, one John McCain) who keep scuttling alternative energy development, keep subsidizing and protecting their Big Oil buddies, keep voting down a mandatory increase in gas mileage for new cars when the technology exists, but would inconvenience the polluting robber-barons of big industry. Let's tell it like it is! That's the only way to combat lies and counter the fears that are being stirred.

Convince the American people that drilling is the answer, win the election on the promise of lower gas prices AND turn the environment over to their oil buddies to do with what they will. I'm scared to death it will work.

I can see this commercial backfiring because it's such an obvious lie.

| 6. I had somebody say to me just the other day |

"We HAVE to drill in Alaska". That person is apolitical and actually not that bright. She'll fall for it. And others will go for it out of desperation.

| 3. This will really piss off Democrats. When showing Obama's pic, they also play the "Obama" chant. |

McShame truly is the scum of the earth for this commercial. Just like bush/rove, McShame will NEVER be able to lead this country with such an inflamatory commerical.
The lie is obvious since the two oil whores have been ruining this country for 7 years and not until recently have they brought up raping the coasts.

...I almost forgot about the chant, because I wasn't fully paying attention until I realized just what the damn thing was saying. I don't think it will backfire, of its own accord. There are stupid and/or thoughtless people who will simply swallow the lie without thinking about it. It has to be countered and turned back against its source.
