I saw it on the CNN crawl. Does anyone know about this? Is it trouble for Kerry?

5. Everybody knows he made a fortune from Nazi death camps
through his investments in IG Farben. It's public information. And the family's assets were seized for trading with the enemy. That's why Poppy joined the military.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette filed a petition yesterday to join two other newspapers that are seeking to open the will of the late U.S. Sen. H. John Heinz III.

The record was impounded April 5, 1991, the day after Heinz and seven other people were killed in an airplane crash near Harrisburg. The Los Angeles Times and The Morning Call of Allentown earlier petitioned the Allegheny County courts to unseal the records

They claim that since Heinz's widow, Teresa, is believed to be in control of much of the billion-dollar estate and is now married to presidential candidate John F. Kerry, details of the will are of immense public interest.

Teresa Heinz Kerry's philanthropy "may bear upon her current husband's presidential campaign," attorney Charles Kelly, who represents the Post-Gazette and its parent company, Blade Communications, wrote in the petition filed yesterday.

8. Oh, Jesus Christ. A potential smear campaign.
I can see the Bush/Cheney people trolling over any tidbits they can use against Kerry.

9. That's exactly what it looks like, isn't it?
None of these papers were concerned about this before Kerry ran for President, were they?

10. I wasn't aware of any interest in this before Kerry was the nominee.
This is blatantly political.

11. It they are interested in the details of Teresa Heinz Kerry's
philanthropy, can't they get this information from the IRS? Non-profit organizations are required by law to allow public scrutiny of their financial records.

Check out some of the grants that Heinz Endowments awarded last year in the area of education. Teresa has been very generous to the residents of western PA.

12. no trouble
there isn`t a judge in the united states that would unseal records on this issue. kerry didn`t know teresa-kerry wasn`t running for president.
records are sealed everyday in the united states-my mothers estate was sealed so no one can find out what her estate was worth-and she didn`t leave us millions...
how many right wing families would want their records unsealed?
