I gotta give McCain credit
For going in front of the NAACP tomorrow. That wont be an easy audience for him and it will be the first time a republican [residential candidate has spoken in front of them in a long time. I don't know if he will take questions there but if he does it will be interesting to watch to be sure.

1. I hope he tells them to take more responsibility of their kids.
And use terms like "you people."

Grand Pappy McCane (sic) doesn't like that.

28. Hey, now. Grampy is very in touch with the needs of the Negros.
Or is that colored folk?

I forget which new-fangled term they're using these days.

The only reason the old RACIST (see Richard Quinn, see McCain on Martin Luther King Holiday, see McCain on ANYTHING that has to do with racial equality) is for pure show and for the MEDIA COVERAGE.

McRacist gets an F- on racial relations. He is a RACIST. AGAIN, Look up his history with Richard Quinn!!!

It's all SHOW and I will never give him credit for Rovian politics.

McSAME SUCKS and (sadly) like the media will, you bought it.

I wasn't aware he was racist though.

11. So.... you don't know who Richard Quinn is?

Here's some fairly recent info off of Daily Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/15/85831/2516/354/457290

But you can Google their history and make youself SICK.

It's not just Quinn though. It's McCain's history.

Attending a NAACP Meeting doesn't change history.

14. Oh I am in no way implying he will change history by attending
At least not trying to. I just think he deserves credit for going and facing what will likely be a very uncomfortable situation. I also think it will be fascinating to watch it unfold.

Thanks for the link I will definitely read up on it.

10. I don't think McCain is racist
I don't think he particularly cares about black people, but I don't believe he is racist. He himself has been the victim of a racial smear campaign against his daughter. I am no fan of McSame but I think calling someone a racist is a pretty big accusation that should not be thrown around lightly. And anticipating the obvious response from some people here, no, I never called the Clintons racist during the primaries. I don't believe either of them are racist.

23. Maybe not directly. He's just the typical oblivious republican
who claims to be so moral and loving, while passing laws that are known to destroy communities.

31. So, as long as I call a "specific" group of black people "n*ggers", then it's OK?
Why use a pejorative meant for an entire race to describe a very few number of people?

Ridiculous. But I'm sure McCain appreciates your defense of his racism.

that if you spent 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton, went for weeks without medical treatment for two broken arms, were tortured, etc you would welcome them as brothers in the world struggle.

The only GOP President or Presidential Candidate I can remember that wouldn't talk to the NAACP was Chimpy.

I believe Dole talked to them as well as poppy Bush. I could be wrong.

Correction, Bush's father was the last one.
