McCaint campaign is FUBAR - Check out the backdrop for his big "foreign policy" speech.

The backdrop for McCain's speech today on Iraq and Afghanistan suggests that -- contrary to the talk of a clear new message plan -- they scrapped a jobs speech at the last minute.

There's nothing wrong with that kind of flexibility and opportunism -- it's a central part of any campaign.

But it's also yet another mark of how totally Obama is dominating this campaign (which is different from, though not unrelated to, winning it).

9. Ben Smith: dominating campaign != winning it
Well, that's certainly an interesting bout of logic there! Could you imagine if Obama's campaign were being owned in the way that the "Straight Talk Express" is being "dominated" by Obama? They'd tell him to give up now.

16. There's an extra echo -- Jobs For America -- in the war industry?
100 Year War Guy talks about Iraq with a Jobs for America banner behind him. John Sidney McCain III wants to be Warmonger in Chief.

17. It's not opportunism. He's running scared
Obama's speech was actually quite good and McCain knows it. McCain knows that if Obama continues to press the argument that the war in Iraq is hindering the war on terrorism, he is in trouble.

McCain is reacting to the Obama campaign instead of the other way around.
