1. Please show me where people are saying this is a mistake.
The closest I have seen to that is people saying "I hope he can back it up."

12. Yeah...I didn't want to do all the poster's work for him.
It was a stupid request when it was happening across the board.

2. For the same reason Citizens United failed against F9/11
Kerry's going to be more of a laughingstock.

3. Because faith is magical thinking
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 06:59 PM by Marianne
without anything concrete behind it, it is simply in the same catagory as wishful thinking and because people are only people and who have suffered through four years of battering from a fascist insane man and want reassurance in the form of definate actions not political spin.

Most of us, including those who indulge in magical thinking, are scared to death of another Bush regime.

6. trust or not, we must vote for him
whther or not I trust Kerry, I realize I must vote for him. Therefore any wishful thinking or faith, is really irrelevant.

15. "without anything concrete behind it"
Ran the table in the primaries

Won several elections, including a barn-burner in 1996.

Yeah. Nothing really concrete behind it. It's 'magic.'

Or something.

5. I like what Oliphant said on Hardball
"Never pay attention to a democrat filing an F.E.C complaint. You might as well be putting it in the waste basket. I know there techincally is an F.E.C down the street. There is a building. People in it but no evidence they have ever done anything."

He was mocking the shock of the rethug to Kerry filing, showing that the shock was a fraud.

8. Kerry needs to tie this to Bush - the media is finally talking about Bush
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 07:07 PM by Democat
Was it the best strategy? Who knows yet.

Did Kerry need to do something fast to get Bush's name into the news as part of the smear? Yes!

Let's give him some support because he's starting to fight this bullshit and he's dragging Bush down into it.

10. He certainly isn't going to get the FEC to do anything.
They never have and probably never will. But it will get Bushco involved in defending this crap and rub their noses into it. Bush will end up the loser in this controversy and in the election.

11. That was the point, drag Bush down into the mud he created
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 07:32 PM by Democat
The media was only talking about Kerry and the Swift Boat Liars, not brining the fact that Bush was behind it into the debate.

Now Kerry has brought Bush into it. It needed to be done.

Bush is the only person who can stop the attacks because he is the one behind them.

Now that he's been exposed, we'll see what he does.

13. The FEC Filing is GREAT because
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 07:54 PM by 2004 Victory
in the first place, the FEC takes years to investigate illegal campaign allegations. In the meantime, Kerry has it out in the open that he's going to fight. And, after 9/ll, Americans want a president who is strong, won't take shit and will FIGHT BACK. To sit back and be mealy about this, or take the high road, is not a politically viable tactic this year. There are people who don't agree with Bush about anything except that he's "fighting terrorism." John Kerry can get these votes if he's ready to fight fire with fire.

Rove's a dirty guy. Bin Laden's a dirty guy. You can't place nice with either one of them.

This is a brilliant move by the Kerry campaign -- and now Bush & Cheney & Rove are on notice that their dirty tricks won't be taken lightly. There are emergency strategy meetings going on at Bush campaign headquarters tonight.

20. It's only great ...
If the media hold Shrub's feet to the fire and begin peppering him and his flunkies with demands for responses. Sadly, I have little faith that will happen.

16. there is no downside
to filing this complaint. It shifts the attention from the actual attacks to how the Bush Campaign has colluded. This is an argument they cannot win.

22. Only right-wing die-hards were believing the attacks
The attacks were showing how hysterically desperate the effort to keep bush in the WH was.

Filing the complaint will allow it to be claimed Kerry acknowledges a controversy. It seems a gamble, but it may pay off big.

17. Why do you think I was serving Kool Aid in the lounge
I swear some folks were ready to drink it.

I'm so glad that Kerry didn't go negative and let this whole SwiftAsses for Lying play out.

Kerry is going to come out of this smelling like roses and Bush like something left in my cat's litter box

And I couldn't agree with you more, Kerry is going to come out smelling like roses. As the weed would say (if he were truly a Texan) this isn't Kerry's first rodeo. He knows how to ride the bull.

19. Repeat after me: "Iraq - WMD - Al Qaeda"
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 09:52 PM by Pobeka
If you can cause people to believe a lie by repeating words together, then you can cause people to believe the truth using the same tactic.

"Swiftboard Ad - Smear - Bush Connection"

Very smart people in Kerry's campaign right now.

On edit: Me on the other hand, not such a good speller of Al Qaeda.

21. This is the mistake
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/07/moveon.ads/

But MoveOn.org's lawyer, Joseph Sandler, said in a statement that the ads were funded legally, calling the RNC's letter "a complete misrepresentation of the law."

And then we have this:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39830

The letter is signed by Kerry-Edwards 2004 general counsel Marc Elias and Democratic National Committee general counsel Joseph Sandler.

MoveOn.org lawyer AND DNC General Counsil? It will be shown as a "flip-flop" by the repugs.

23. Moveon.Org != Moveon.org PAC
Moveon.org is strictly a voter enrollment organization. It does not support any candidate. Moveon.org PAC supports JK. Big difference.
