Thank you, General Clark, for telling the truth and not backing down! I salute you for making the point that McCain's military service, although honorable, does not automatically qualify him to make sound decisions on foreign policy and military strategy. I appreciate your taking the GOP's phony machismo off the table, relentlessly, and bringing it back to the word "Judgment" over and over again on Obama's behalf. You've taken on one mission after another for Democrats, and you are invaluable to the party. (Smartest guy in the room, too, as far as I'm concerned.) I'm always in the fight right with you, General! The RNC isn't fit to shine your shoes.

You are a genuine patriot who stands on principle and honor. Your courage will not be forgotten. Other Democrats may cower in the face of criticism and pressure, but you have shown that you will not bow down to the number one enemy of the people, the corporate media.
You spoke the truth, nothing but the truth, and you, among a very select few, had the credibility to make the statement in the first place. Thank you.

I feel absolutely ill over how all this has been twisted and misconstrued... not the first time something like this has happened in politics, but it just seems worse when someone who's the personification of service to country is treated this way. And thank you, General Clark.

But I am proud to K&R this one. No way will I sit back and be silent while the media tries to Swiftboat General Clark (again). Wes Clark is a charter member founder of the 21st Century Democratic Truth to Power Club. He called out PNAC and was called a crack pot for doing so. He said Bush did not do all he could of to keep America safe on his watch before 9/11, and he was called crazy for holding the President accountable. Clark always says what he knows is true and he never backs down to avoid the right wing fury that he knows full well will follow.
Wes Clark told the truth and the American people need a whole lot more of that and a whole lot less phony outrage being spun to them by people who haven't given 1% of what Wes Clark has for his country.

Isn't it heartwarming to see so many more, coming to know our General for the brave soldier he's always been. A man who could have come home and retired in peace. Instead, he hit the road over these past years, campaigning tirelessly for Democrats, from one side of the country to the other, without asking for anything for himself. His whole life is all for his country. As his book says, "A Time to Lead, For Duty, Honor and Country."
Thanks General Clark, we're all here, from the Draft Clark supporters to all the new supporters who are learning about what a real patriot does for his county.

| 40. Clark is a genuine Idealist |
 |
He says and does things because he actually believes in what he stands for. I know other people like that. Some become social workers, some become teachers, some join the Peace Core and others become community organizers. A few enter politics. It was my own stupid prejudice that got in my way initially from realizing that Clark was an idealist who joined the military during the Cold War because he believed that America's democracy and our Constitution were worth defending with his own life if necessary. Wes Clark knows that we the people make up America and we can only govern ourselves effectrively if our leaders trust us enough to be honest, wherever that may lead. Clark never witholds his true viewpoint. He feels it is his civic duty to be straight with America's voters, and he always trusts us with the truth.
We are loyal to him for good reason.

said Clark had 30 medals, medal of honor, purple heart, was a general -- yada yada -- he had a right to say what he said. He said he was absolutely right about McCain - he wasn't being disrepectful at all, but that did not give him added qualifications for the presidency, etc. Said he had 2 yrs in military, his grandfather had a purple heart or something, that sure didn't qualify them to be pres. He said Obama shouldn't have had to apologize for anything Clark said because Clark didn't say anything wrong. He was adamant! (I wonder if Carville is a little miffed at Obama for beating out Hillary? -- just kidding -- sorta) Anyway, he was totally supporting Clark. Debating with William Bennett -- lol -- who thought that because McCain was survived what he had gone through, that showed he had good character. He was of course, critical of Clark's comment, thought it was dissing him or something. I had missed what Bennett said. Carville caught my attention.

I salute you, too. And I intend to follow your lead. john mcsame is NOT a sacred cow. Neither is his Vietnam War service. If the GOP dirtbags can burn John Kerry at the stake for his Vietnam War service, then mcsame is NOT off limits.
And, as a matter of fact, flying a bomber jet over a war zone and being shot down and taken into custody DOES NOT somehow magically or automatically endow you with all of what's needed to be commander-in-chief of the whole shebang. NOT BY A LONG SHOT.

As a former Naval Officer, I say Bravo, BRAVO, BRAVO General Clark. What you said was true. Besides all the fly boys during Vietnam didn't really see the war up close. They flew over it. They had breakfast, took off for their flight, dropped some bombs and were home for lunch. Nice beds to sleep in at night.
Anything worth saying once, is worth saying a second time, a third time and many more times. Keep speaking the truth. Lets see the right-wing Chicken Hawks go crazy.

They don't come any better than Gen. Clark. I've hoped he'd be our VP candidate no matter who won the primary. Can't think of a better choice Obama could make. He fills in all the gaps for Obama in the voter demographics:
- Strong military background (none better out there)
- White, male from a Southern state (can bring in the Bubba vote)
- Well-respected Hillary supporter (help bring party unity)
- No political baggage (can speak freely, like today)
- Extremely articulate & astute debater & analyst
- Can bring the female 50+ voters.....cuz he's soooooo HOT!
- HAS A SPINE!

Thank God there are soldiers who can see through the rhetoric of the right.Any military service to this nation should be honored as service to the country. But that does not give them the necessary judgment to be Commander in chief. His own party thought he was unstable and a possible "Manchurian Candidate". Why have they changed their minds now?

As a Retired Naval officer (Viet Nam era), I would like to thank you for cutting through the republican spin about McCain's service. I spent 22yrs in the Navy, retired honorably, but am no more qualified to be president than my cat!!! Keep up the great work. This is a story that needs to stay in the headlines.

Many in the political media and the GOP are chickenhawks. They like war and they hold McCain up as having military experience for his time as a POW. As Wes pointed out, McCain was never in a command position. McCain was a POW and that does in no way, shape or form, qualify him an expert in military matters. His status as a POW shouldn't give McCain a special pass where we can never question his military service, how it may have affected him mentally or the fact that he has consistently used his status of a POW to deflect questions as to whether it is relevant to current or future military issues that may arise.
On a related note, have you noticed how the media has stopped comparing the Iraqi Invasion with the Viet Nam war? Instead they do stories about how the surge might be working while down playing casualties. I mean, if anything, you'd think the media would be talking about torture and how it doesn't work (that is being done in our name) while there is a candidate who was tortured during an earlier American invasion in Viet Nam. In fact, the media doesn't want to talk about McCain's service or what he did between being discharged and running for office. Why? Because the media from 2000 would have to admit things they covered up. Things like McCain's temper, his stories of adultery and other things from McCain's past. The media would have to admit it covered things up and admit they made things up (like McCain's "maverick" status) because they were embedded with him and they were rooting for their guy to win.
You gotta remember that McCain, Bush, Gore and Bradley were each assigned their own reporters who followed them throughout the campaign. How much the reporters liked their assigned candidate was reflected in the way they characterized the candidate in their articles.

It must be one of the dumbest ideas Wes Clark ever had .....
"I know - let's make this election all about which candidate has the most military experience!"

I have always trusted you when you speak. I've been listening
to you since we went to war. I believe you spoke the truth
and said nothing detrimental about McCain. You in fact you
were highly respectful and courteous in what you said and how
you said it. I would expect nothing less. Flying a plane and
crashing or being a prisoner of war maybe heroic and romantic,
but it is not something someone needs to have to be a
successful President. It does not make McCain a Saint. Bush
was a pilot and drove the country to the ground.
