Obama agreed to help Hillary Clinton pay off her debt!
Is this an agreement that was made to help ease the let down of not being a Vice Presidential choice? Is this an agreement that was made to align Hillary Clinton supporters and financiers? I am not understanding why Barack should pay off Hillary's dept.

<<snip>>
Democrat Barack Obama is asking his finance team to help Hillary Rodham Clinton pay off a debt of at least $10 million from her failed presidential campaign, setting the stage for joint appearances by the two former rivals later in the week.

In a teleconference with his top fundraisers Tuesday afternoon, Obama asked them to do what they could to help Clinton, according to two Democrats familiar with the call. A campaign spokesman confirmed that Obama had asked them to help the former first lady.

He can't pay off her debt, he can get his fund raisers to help try to pay off her debt. Maybe he'll donate his 2,300 to it. One small chunk at a time.

To me this seems like something already talked about and possibly flamebait. I'm not really liking how this was posted and the format. Nothing overt, just a gut feeling.

5. Perhaps he'll give her his tapped out donors in exchange for hers.
I believe it was Margaret Carlson who suggested this approach on a weekend talking head show.

It would be no loss to Obama to encourage Hillary donations from a few of his wealthiest donors who've already given their limit to his campaign. In exchange, Hillary would encourage of few of her wealthiest tapped-out contributors to do the same for his campaign.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

6. Agreed.

Especially since this decision was presumably aimed at long-time, big-time Democratic "financiers" who have agendas broader than one specific election.

3. TPM-One point of clarification:
One point of clarification: The Obama camp's help extends only to the vendor debts, but not the more than $10 million in personal debt from Hillary's own self-financing loans. Clinton herself has told her own donors that while she needs help paying off vendors, she is not asking for help paying off the money the campaign owes her personally.
