The press has been talking ad nauseum about Obama's race, among other. Things, constantly discussing how his blackness puts him at a disadvantage because white people won't vote for him.

But when HE notes, for the first time, that the GOP will likely try to use his race against him - something the press has been saying for moths that they'd do - they're asking at the top of their lungs, "IS OBAMA PLAYING THE RACE CARD?!"

Amazing. Just amazing.

1. Of course he can't mention his race. Silly Rabbit!
Only others can point this out ad nauseum.

Kind of like calling Michelle an "Angry Black Woman". Black people can't say anything about that. We can only sit back and let it happen; the smears, I mean.

2. Yup, "Anderson 360" on CNN just ran that bullshit little debate.
It's just disgusting. It's such a distraction. This is not journalism.

3. Like I told my son on the phone
tonight..the m$$m will use anything they can against Obama..they'll get a twig and try to build an inescapable fort around him..but, Obama can't be pinned.

There will be millions of us who will take him, his family, and his team to the White House.

4. Of course. White folks have made an entire linguistic industry centered on....
making damn sure black folks never talk about racism. That way white folks can keep being racist. It's a wonderful system.

Now stop being oversensitive, please. :P

5. what bullshit. Obama can't be frank with his supporters at a fundraiser
And the Obama camp can't point out how McCain does not have a grasp on the issues without the McCain campaign saying that the Obama campaign is making an issue of his age, with the MSM coming to McCain's defense? His age could be used as an issue more, but I don't really see the Obama camp doing it, despite the media's attempts to try and paint "confused" as "ageist". Get back to me when Democrats at conventions are selling buttons saying "Will the White House be stocked with Depends diapers if McCain wins?" or something offensive like that (and yes, I would be offended if something like that happened).

7. The MSM needs to die a slow and painful death
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 10:44 PM by Cali_Democrat
Actually a fast and painful death would be better.

When Obama is president he needs to make media accountability one of his top priorities.

9. that is the very same thing that happened to Clinton
Gender was used against her, but she was not supposed to talk about it or she was accused of "playing the gender card."

She had to shut up while they decimated her with attacks designed to bring out the fears of the misogynists.

By "they" I mean everyone including the media.

10. She spoke very freely about gender
The press continued to highlight the number of women are supporting her because of her gender. They are still bringing it up by asking if Obama can win over the Hillary women supporters.

11. No. She did not.
Indeed after the first debate in which she dared to mention her gender the other candidates and the media shut her up. She was not allowed to have that be part of the campaign.

15. That's not true
You can read her speeches and see that she does mention gender. This is an excerpt of just one of those speeches:

"This is a historic race. And I commend Senator Obama and his supporters tonight. We are, in many ways, all on this journey together to create an America that embraces every last one of us, the women in their 90s who tell me they were born before women could vote. And they're hopeful of seeing a woman in the White House.

The mothers and fathers at my events who lift their little girls on their shoulders and whisper in their ears, "See, you can be anything you want."

17. you are going to have to go back further
The first debate in particular when she was accused of playing the "gender" card and was in essence "shut-up" about her gender. She was forced to say over and over that gender is not an issue in this race.

12. of course, don't you know the rules yet?
Anything McCain says is great, any crap the MSM wants to yammer on about is fine...if Obama opens his mouth, he's made a mistake. Duh.

same rules as in '04 - just the players have changed.

14. MSM thinks that this is some sort of game
and it's very offensive to me. We are forced to hear, not the news, but what a select group of reporters want to talk about.

16. It is amazing the pompousness with which the RW assumes it has
the high ground on anything - and the M$M just goes along with it.

I recall RW nuts going on about how Kerry brought up his military service, so that made it OK to attack it. Yet they have the nerve to claim McLame's military experiences make him a "war hero." How they can have the nerve to use that term when they denied it to Kerry just shows their utter shamelessness.
