Michelle Obama Consoles Teary Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 05:46 PM by RamboLiberal
Early in the show, as if to diffuse any tension between Obama and Hasselbeck, a self-professed and vocal Republican, co-host Whoopi Goldberg said on-air, "Okay you two, no more hair-pulling!"

"I'm sorry," Obama deadpanned. "We're through," Hasselbeck said, smiling at Obama.

Later, during a commercial break, Hasselbeck broke into tears while explaining to audience members that she is sad to be leaving her baby boy, Taylor, for the first time next week to tape the show in Las Vegas. The potential first lady appeared to briefly console her as all of the ladies sat on the couch in preparation for a group interview of celebrity guest Matthew Broderick.

Obama looked over at a teary Hasselbeck and appeared to whisper to her and fellow co-host Sherri Shepherd, "Everything okay?"

It was a stunning demonstration of concern between two women of very different political views.

During the show Obama said of Hasselbeck: "This girl is solid, she's got great kids, she's funny."

1. I wouldn't be mean to Hasselbeck, but I'm not sure
I would be as classy as Michelle Obama, either.

She's awesome.

Oh definately better than me. Elizabeth is always saying snarky things about
Barack and Michelle. It is one thing to disagree with them politically. Fine. However, she makes catty remarks about Trinity and stuff. She will be on with her buddy Hannity tonight. I think that says it all....

11. Michelle and Barack are very smart - take the high road no matter what
That makes the opposition look bad by continuing to snark and/or bad-mouth them.

It can be very hard to do knowing what someone has said or might say about you, but I think it will pay off in the long run when people notice the contrast.

12. She'll be polite, but Hannity will use it as an excuse to trash Michelle, anyway.
He is as low a form of pond scum as Rush and Coulter.

That's low.

14. That this charade has the potential to influence tens of thousands of voters
is mind boggling. This should not register a reading on what people care about at this time, in this world -- my two cents.
